When there finally at 100%, do you think the price will go down or stay the same?

This is all depressing

Anybody got anything good to say

Its kind of like the glass is half full thing ...

Gas was $3.30 this morning, the sky was blue, the weather has low humidity ... about 70 degrees, a really nice morning. We were lucky compared to those in the deep south waded through disease infested waters. My sympathies go out to them.

In some states you cannot pump your own gas (NJ & Oregon).

Yesterday, my local Chevron station had raised 91 octane from $2.95 to $3.05. When I motored over to fill up this afternoon, I paid $3.15.

A nice guy filling up his Ford Exploder chatted me up and told me it cost him $60 for his fill-up! So I feel good about my MINI and I am driving a bit more conservatively to up my gas mileage (slower launches).

The weather is lovely, there's a cool ocean breeze wafting in the window. I'm taking a break from working in the studio. I feel lucky to have a roof over my head, good food to eat, money to buy gas, and for my good pals here on NAM.

In Oregon anyway, I would never consider it full service... they just grab your card run it thru the same style pump we would here, fill your tank, and return your card.... no real service (like tires, windshilds, etc.)... maybe "minimal service".

Yeah ditto....I paid $3.15 today also....I know we're better off than our Euro friends, but damn I know it's a lot better in Texas and Oklahoma (usually is anyway )

Now there is a good answer ...

I saw my neighbor pull up in her "mid-size" SUV and asked her about gas. She said she puts in $55 every 5 days. Thats over $300/month for gas ... Arghghhhhh She's need something to haul the kids around but now is considering something more efficient.

I too am thankful for a roof, good food. and good company

i live in Honolulu, Hawaii...

Our metro area's chevron is about $3.03 while our shell was $3.06. IMO i'm using shell's v-power....seems to be much cleaner.

I must admit I do hate not having mass transit here in Baltimore as I would take it everywhere. As much as I love driving my MINI, getting stuck in traffic and going 15 mph is not my idea of pleasurable motoring...

If only I could afford Manhattan...

On another note, gas just hit $3.69/gallon a block from my house...that is up 30 cpg from this morning...crap!

Outrageous!

Last night I paid $3.46 for 91 octane at the Chevron in Yreka CA. So you all should consider yourself lucky. It sounds like it's worse up here.

Predictions of future prices? Whew! That's a tough nut for even the experts. I've heard anything from "better get used to it" to "they'll come back down". The justifications for either are beyond me.

If you're asking MHO...I think prices will come back down to below $3/gallon. Why do I think that? Just the thought that all things return to balance. We were at roughly a national average of $2.65 before Katrina. Maybe we'll get back to $2.85? Supplies will be built be back to what they were before Katrina since this has been, at it's simplistic level, a disruption in transportation services.

Luckily I filled up 2 days ago when premium was "only" 2.55. Today on my way home from work it was up to 3.40 at the same station.

Wednesday I filled up at the same place I always get gas and paid $2.799. Today I stopped in to top off for the 3 day weekend and paid $2.749. Not a joke it dropped 5 cents in the last two days.

It costs me about $65 in Australian monies (about USD$50) to fill up my MCS....they reckon it'll go up another 30 aussie cents per litre before the end of the year down here....with 92 octane....98 octane is usually about another 10c per litre extra...

Natural Gas conversions are getting popular again here at about USD$2000 per installation....

there's no way I'm filling up my trunk with a natural gas tank though!

And if you think prices will go back down, your'e dreaming.....as with most things, once everyone gets used to paying that amount....why would they lower it? It just means the government collects more tax, and the oil barons get more money!

It wouldn't be so bad now, except that the damn oil companies have commited alot of engery surpressing the development and deployment alternate energy sources over the last several decades....
