i always wondered what the Partridge Family would drive if they didn't have their bus...

 

there are 2 of these multi colored VeeDubs in my city, owned by the same guy. ones his show car, the other, his daily driver. i heard he bought both of them on the same day at the same time since the local VW dealer couldnt get rid of them!!!!

 

There was one of these's things running around while I was stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC...I always thought that the owner had a one of a kind ride.

 

I had always assumed they did them as a limited edition vehicle in tribute to the old VW bugs that were painted all multicolors back in the 60's-70's.

 

ahhh yes, I remember when these came out, I was 16 and in my "VW's ARE THE BEST CARS EVER" phase. haha.

anyways, there are two in my area. I always thought they were neat for what they were, but I'd never own one. it's always funny to hear people say stuff like "why did that guy paint his car like that?" and then their surprised reaction when you tell them it's a factory job.

IIRC, they were base models, right? like, power nothing, no A/C, etc?

 

I have seen one around here occasionally, in Maryland.

A friend who had a VW ( air ) shop did a reconditioned Bug up like that when VW came out with that paint scheme, He sold it in a week.:smile:
