Excess excess?

Today while motoring down the highway in my MCS I saw one of those extravagant RVs (you know - two blocks long, two stories tall) cruising along and towing a ----- HUMMER!! And not that sporty Yukon-based H2 - the real original goliath!

There's got to have been $5K invested in the contents of the gas tanks alone!

Well, when you've got a teeny tiny little pee pee you have to make up for it where you can.

So how, exactly, (other than Spunky's comment) is this MINI Talk? I am tempted to move this to Off Topic :: Autos!

They should be towing a MINI behind the Hummer.

It would have been picture worthy if they daisy chained a MINI behind the Hummer! Or at least drove one up onto the back.

There was a guy at the Big MINI Day at Thunderhill last year who had what was probably a $200K motor home 'supporting' his MINI - and both had the same paint scheme - a wild array of green, gold and other colors mixed in. It was big enough, I thought sure they were going to stow the MINI in back!!

There are 2 Hummer stretch limousines in my hood. Both white and for hire. I asked one of the chauffeurs his opinion. He said the guys with seniority opt not to drive the stretch cars because they handle poorly at highway speeds. He said the Hummer feels a bit safer than the stretch Lincoln at 70, but he wouldn't want to make an emergency maneuver in either. He said he has been driving limos for a whole 4 months.

Saw this on Fripp Island, SC, and couldn't resist snapping a photo. This is after they unloaded the golf cart from the trailer.

The H2 is covered with bizarre shiny bolts of some sort.

Notice how Hummer has now come out with the H3... which is a little bit smaller than the H2... which was a bit smaller than the original Hummer....

Perhaps the H23 will approximate the MINI!

Neilgj: My carpool buddy saw the same combo that same weekend , in the Monterey area, and thought it was worth noting as we motored to work in the MINI that week.

The original Hummer is not a very good off-road vehicle because it is too wide for most trails in the US, but it is good in the desert.

Enter the H2. Less expensive and smaller than the Lincoln Navigator or the Cadillac Suburban thing, and less bling, too.

Why do people have so much against the Hummer? I don't get it.

I always looked at the H2 as having more bling than the H1, not less- at least the H1 is a capable vehicle. And yeah I agree, I'd rather be driving a Defender 90 than an H1 if I had money and wanted to go off-roading, but whatever, some people off-road in areas that are great for an H1. It's not as if the vast majority of trails happen to be of a size that is too small for an H1, but ok for a Jeep or Land Rover, that's only like a 2 ft difference at most.

Anyways, who the heck cares if the guy has an H1? Granted, it's an odd choice for a tow vehicle, but if he happens to like to off-road, and happens to be a Hummer fan, and has a lot of money to travel, then why not?

If he just uses it to tool around the towns he stops at with his RV, then yes, that might be a tad excessive

Yes, the MINI is a cool car, but it is not the be-all-end-all, haha- he might look at you and say "crazy people, why are they spending so much on a compact car?"

Did you happen to see the photo I just posted? People are not off-roading with them, that's the whole point (driving down a dirt road to a campsite is not off-roading; I do that in my MINI). They're just making the roads more dangerous with them, and making the world uglier and more polluted.
