I'm about to travel so I had 4x new tires put onto my wife's 2017 30k mile crv that WAS in pristine condition. I take very good care of my vehicles and I'm fuming about this.
it looks like on 3x of the 4x rims they removed the old wheel weights with an angle grinder and literally took the rim down to bare metal !!! I'm SOOOOOOOOOO upset !
what should I do ? I haven't even called them yet as I wanted to settle down 1st and ask a few opinions..
what can I do?? What are my legal options if they refuse to replace or atleast repair and repaint..
🤬🤬🤬🤬😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬
Yikes! I know what I would do. Straight back there in the morning and demand to talk to the manager and ask if that is the normal way they tell their staff to attack removal of old weights. I'd record the convo. Look up what the price of a new set of wheels id before heading down and ask him what they are going to do to make it right. If you don't get an answer you like, go to corporate and play them the recording and show them the damage.
Well, cross Midas off the list of places I will ever go.
Had a similar thing happen to me. My MC40 has the discontinued R90 wheels. I had new tires mounted and the vendor scratched them up (after I had them previously refinished). I talked somewhat loudly to the manager on the spot and it cost them $331 each for new wheels. No idea whether or not the moron who installed them kept his job -- I hope not.
Agreed, go back first thing and speak to the manager. Remember to be tactful, yet firm, with the goal of being made new again. Then, blacklist that place.
Manager. Demand (politely) they fix it. Either refinish or replace. That is definitely NOT the standard practice for removing stick on weights.
They'll probably try to play it off as "cosmetic" damage, but what they've done is destroy the corrosion protection and the rim is now vulnerable to road effects (water, salt, corrosive brake dust, etc). It needs to be fixed and fixed properly.
You often see that type of crap when they've hired some kid to do tire changes instead of a licensed tech. Midas is a pretty cut rate outfit so that wouldn't surprise me at all.....
I am going to try and go in there today befor we have to leave to travel..
great advice guys , I appreciate it... this really really upset me. If any of you guys somewhat know me , you know how **** I am about keeping my stuff nice and taken care of..
I went in and spoke to the manager and he brought out the tech and they said " that is how we remove the wheel weights , we had to make sure to have all the material off . It is standard practice " so I didn't argue . Took his name and asked fir corporate phone number.
I contacted corporate and spoke with claims department and filed a claim. I was asked what my expected outcome would be and I said I just want my rims fixed or replaced.
I ALSO got the guy manager at that store and the tech on recording admitting to , while looking at the damage.
so I guess I will chime back I'm with what corporate says as soon as they contact me. They said should he Monday or Tuesday. If not i will call back my self Friday.
I was given a case number also fir this matter and was told that they immediately escalated the case..
I will post back up with what corporate tells me and keep you guys posted on this matter
I'm also going to the bank once back home and disputing the charges since I'd paid with my credit card.
wish me luck guys , thx for the advice too once again.

If the bank backs you up on that you'll really have Midas people's attention. Good luck with that.
Safar I've submitted my claim with photos and receipts of the service that was done.. I've gotten no calls back , no emails back , nothing.
I've called 2x now pressing the matter , it looks like a lawyer may be needed fir this as they're doing everything they can to avoid me..
Even though I got the shop tech and manager admitting to using an angle grinder on my rims to remove the wheel weights , absolutely unreal..... I hope this place burns to the ground.
they also KEEP DELETING my review online describing my issues with this place and corporate
Don't know where you live but in small claims court in Texas the max damages is now up to $20,000. If you have a solid case, file locally (filing fee necessary but recoverable) and it's likely they'll settle instead of going to court.

probably going to have to be our course of action..ive called 5x times only to get the same b.s runaround...im very tempted to take a few hours out of a few Saturdays and picket outside of there and tell everyone who goes there what they did..
I have saved and been documenting all the times I've contacted them and what I was told...
what a loser scumbag establishment..I haven't even gotten an apology...sickening really..
