Toyota C-HR

Toyota C-HR
Does anyone else besides me think the Toyota C-HR looks dumb with a white top? Every time I see one I think someone forgot to remove the protective covering new cars come with. More and more cars are coming out with colored tops, some look ok but none will ever look as good as Minis.

What is dumb is the 11s 0-60. I didn't even know they made cars that slow still outside of city cars like the Smart. My wife thought they looked cool (black roof, not the white one) and was expecting something that looked like that to be quicker than what Fred Flinstone could muster, but that wasn't the case.

Apparently Toyota is doing it on several of their new models, including the new Rav4. Although I think they started doing it on the new Camry first.

Yes, as well as the rest of the non-SUV SUVs that are a trend these days.
Efficiency versus performance. Emissions standards destroyed engine performance in the 70s, it is happening again with fuel economy standards.

It's safe to beat up on Toyota on a MINI forum. I'm not a fan of most new car styles these days. I passed on buying a few cars that seemed to have what I wanted but I just couldn't deal with the look.
The two toned car is the least of the design problems as far as I'm concerned.
Someone come out with a clone of the BMW 2002 and I'm ordering one.

Ehh, the Countryman S is very similar in size, better fuel economy and yet relatively blows the doors off the C-HR. The industry has completely recovered technologically from the oil crisis, so there's no reason to get only 31mpg and be that slow.

Ive worked at a halfway large Toyota dealership for 2 years and I drove the CH-R when we first got them, they are so disapointing, super slow, interior is made from parts left over from SCION stuff and not AWD, its pretty much all junk we have 4 sitting on the lot for nearly 6 months no one likes them.
Camry looks cool and interior is nice but their price is stupid, so many better options to get at the $30k.
All in all no toyota has gotten me to the point of buying one, to me their line up is boring. I love the 4Runner TRD Offroad but im 20 dont need a big SUV at the moment.

I think they do that paint scheme to make it look like a separate part - maybe it makes people think it comes off or retracts or something.
I do like Toyota's - since 99, all vehicles have gone except the Toyota's - the Mini is the only non-Toyota. I actually like the C-HR - probably for it's weirdness. I like how the fenders flow from the body to the wheels. It's almost reminiscent of a 30's Ford with the rolling fenders or even a VW bug. I have not driven one and they don't have AWD yet - but allegedly, it's coming. I doubt I'd ever get one.
I don't like the Juke - never have. I don't like the looks of it. The 2014-ish Jeep Cherokee - I don't get that look at all. Daytime lights up top that look like they should be headlights, headlights in the middle that look like they belong somewhere else. It just doesn't fit.

I don't mind the contrast roof on other cars, even though to me it looks right on nothing but a MINI. I will give Toyota credit for trying to make something unique and fun, though I am not sure an 11 second 0-60 time (as mentioned above) is all that fun. Surprising it is that slow to get up considering it has 144hp and isn't all that heavy, though perhaps the torque is where it struggles?
