The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach is indeed a great race. Great sights and sounds, and always a party. However they no longer race Formula One there. They have been running cars from the CART Champ Car World Series (currently in bankruptcy, soon to reemerge as Open Wheel Racing) for a while now.

Regardless, it'e probably some of the best open wheel racing to be found in So. Cal.

i've gone for the past 3 years... last year i didn't get to see much of the racing. The course design is always the same, but last year seemed really different, narrower perhaps? It started to lose it's grip on me as far as my interest to watch... can't pinpoint why..

but besides the racing, there's always good stuff to check out. Products in the convention hall, celebrities (oh yea, the celebrity race too), and everyone's favorite: FREE STUFF.

i'm still planning on hitting up the Rim of the World Rally in April... totally different racing style, but equally (if not more ) exciting.

Yeah I went to one of them about 3 years ago and really enjoyed it. The best part was dialing in to my business' loud speaker system as about 15 cars roared by and let it play over the speakers (I'd probably have to explain that a bit more, but believe me it turned out funny).

If anybody wants to meet up down there let me know and we can have our own little Mini section in one of the parking lots. A mini boot-gate party if you like.

Long Beach used to be a Formula 1 race a looonng time ago. For quite a while it has been a CART/Champ Car venue and continues to be the premier event in that race series. Gotta go to Indianapolis for the F1 race.
