Look at what i just got

Well after some shopping around i found the perfect starter bike... a 2010 Ducati Monster 696. This will help prep me for the bike i plan on buying in a year or so (Ducati streetfighter 848).

any way here is a pic, its red just like my mini

If those bikes were made when I was young I wouldn't be here now.

Nice! That's one heck of a "starter bike", I would think it's more of an intermediate level. It's still almost 700 cc's! I would consider a Honda Grom or Ninja/CBR 300 as starter bikes.

Thanks, my friend was telling me to get a ninja 250 to start with but i felt as though it would be a waste of money between spending 2-3k on the bike + registration fees here in NY + tax. I figured i would go with the monster because it is the easiest/most beginner friendly bike Ducati makes because its so light and next year i will upgrade to the streetfighter 848

It's true, your skills would outgrow the 250/300 extremely fast. Enjoy it! I would love to have a street bike but I fear other drivers on the road, so I'll just stick to dirt

Yep exactly, thanks man. you do have far more congestion out in Cali. Im only gonna be taking this thing out when there isnt that much traffic and there is no rain in the forecast.

way super nice bike man. love the look! very sporty. have to say im a bit jealous! :P

yes, good call on getting the "upgrade" there. i have also heard the 250s are fairly "slow"; i have a kawasaki 250 klr dirtbike. it does about 70 or so on the highway, and have been told its faster than a 250 street bike bc its lighter. while i havent outgrown it for the dirt (thats a whole nother riding experience), i would say i was ready for a "stronger" bike after only a few short rides on the street.

Beautiful bike. Yep, it's all in your right wrist. If you are wise enough you can ride it as slow as someone else can ride their 250. Don't get ahead of yourself and you'll have a ball.

Whaap, i rode this thing 4 times already and tell you the truth i have not gone past 1/4 throttle...its so torquey and the throttle is supper twitchy so you have to becareful with your wrist. I have to practice right hand turns from a stop, right now my right hand turns from a stop are kinda wide..

Wait until you take it in for service unless you have money-tree that can produce tons of $$$. I was considering buying one before after i found out our dealership cost to maintain.
Good looking bike though but i settle my old-old-old Honda Nighthawk!
