Damn, that's lookin' like a bit of alright. Not too shabby. Still rather have my MCS, but that's not lookin' too bad at all. Nice and sleak.
Cheerio,

Boring and derivative. It looks like a freaking Corolla. And those wheels are just beyond stupid. What ever happened to VW's individuality?

I sold my GTI VR-6 (Mk IV) to buy the MCS. Still like those V-dubs. An R32 in Mk V config. would be way cool. Make mine silver and black like my previous GTI.

I like it.

If they can make their 4dr version that nice, I might consider one.

I think it's pretty slick, very evolutionary but clearly a Golf.

This particular one is a bit too low for my tastes, and the wheels, while a nice design, are too bling big.

This is among the nicer Mk5's I've seen (if a bit over the top for the lift-kit & small wheel crowd), but it's still too "minivan" & Corolla looking. I prefer the discreet luxurious aesthetic of the Mk4.

There hasn't been an ugly Golf/Rabbit since the first one. My pal in England has a 4 Motion with a V-6 that is an absolute rocket ship. Of course I never tire of reminding him that his Golf is nothing but an A4 in drag..........

One of my co workers has the latest US version Golf with the 18" Wheels....it is HOT looking....but nowhere close to a blue MCS at work. I never park PKT RKT next to it...it (PKT RKT) looks pretty sad what with it being BRG and everything.....

Sorry, fellas! I've never gotten the VW aesthetic since they ended production of the original Beetle. The Golfs, et al, don't do it for me, even when shot at dramatic, blingy angles! Tee hee!

22 million? Wheeeeee, doggie!

Does VW really think that that big chunky C-pillar helps to hide how loooong this car has gotten to be? Wrap the glass around instead, and it looks like the wagon it is (only 2.5" shorter than a Mazda Protege5). I strongly dislike this automobile. VW, bring on the Polo, and watch it with the growth hormones this time.

Here is a nice comparison showing the golf over time

Forgive my car ignorance, but I think this is a nice looking vehicle. The silver color and it's shape is very futuristic.

...maybe I'm just too easy to please.

Here's some new pics I found on vwvortex.com

Apparently, there have been several spottings of the 3dr A3 with mfgr plates in Los Angeles, and Colorado. Probably heading to Death Valley for hot weather testing, and the second set doing high altitude testing in CO.

I personally wasn;t aware that the 3dr A3 was coming here, but it sure looks like that's gonna happen.

Another great thread with an official press release from Audi USA.

Neither MK5 Golf or new A3 make my juices flow with enthusiasm. I don't think the MK5 Golf is ugly, it is just nothing truly special. The MK5 has not been selling well in Europe since launch..... I wonder why??.

I am so sorry to the A3 fans in this board, but that thing is really ugly. I really dislike the "Ford Edsel" center grille (Reminds me of the Imperial Guard Helmets in Star Wars) that seems to be the new Audi design "element", the lack of "Handle bar" door handles (Why VW puts safer door handle bars in all their cars but Audi does not and instead uses the nail braker type ones?) in a car of this price calibre is simple unacceptable and the whole design theme just lacks imagination. It seems to me the "Bauhaus" Audi design styling is becoming stale and now they are putting "Batmobile" elements to spruce it up.

I'll take an A4 Avant anyday of the week over the new A3.

But above all VW/Audi continues to have quality/reliability problems with their products and I cringe to think the "bugs" these first year samples will bring with them upon introduction in the US market.

I'm a big fan of that huge grill on the new Chrysler 300, so it's only natural that I like the new looks of the Audi grill

My grandfather took the Chrysler 300 for a test drive the other day… He thought it was ok. http://home.cwru.edu/~jhz/300c.avi

See my comments in the other thread. I also like the 300C and Magnum and think the huge center grille blends so much better in those cars than the Audis just because the 300C/Magnum are squared off, big and chunky looking cars with low roof lines to achieve a terrific visual effect. Not so with the new Audis. Sorry the Ingolsdat boys messed up big time on this one. Back to the "Bauhaus" design school boys!
