Any way to track my previous vehicle?

If you read the link in my sig, you'll learn that I was dumb enough to trade-in my MCS a few years ago. Well, I want it back.

Is there any way to track it? I wanted to find the VIN and get a CARFAX, but all of the paperwork I ever had is since long gone.

:(

Well if you have the VIN http://www.ehow.com/how_4393082_track-car-vin.html

Without it, good luck. IF you remembered where you traded it in or what insurance company you had, maybe the can help get the VIN's.

I've often thought about tracking down some of my first cars. I'm sure they are long since past though. So I never worked up the heart to do it.

It has been a pretty traumatising experience. However, it will help me get over trying to find my MINI to re-purchase it.

Sad to hear about your car, but they are easily replaceable! I had a similar case of seller's remorse:

Good stuff! Glad you get one again!

Well, it will not be so easy for me to get one again. See, the one I had was only $200/mo because my parents financed it, paid it off with a mortgage, and I was paying them. Now, I am 24, only make about $26,000/yr, and provide for my wife and child. We are paying off our current car (current balance is only $2,800 and the vehicle is worth over $6,000) with our tax returns next year. Then we will officially be debt-free. Not bad, if I do say so myself!

But owning a used MINI is even out of our reach right now. I qualify for a $20,000 loan through my credit union, at only 3.49%. But, with $0 down, that comes to over $350/mo for a 60 month loan. Not in the budget. And won't be until...

- The wife and I have health insurance,
- I am contributing to a 401(k),
- I am contributing to a 529 plan,
- We have a larger amount in savings.

Must prioritise. :(

You will get there.
You have your priorities straight.
You have learned what you can and can't handle debt wise.
In the meantime keep window shopping and stay informed about the market for the car that you want.
When the time is right and a good deal comes along, you will be ready for it.
And, it will happen.
You will get there.
