Midlife crisis!
Midlife crisis!
having reached the mid life crisis age (45) got no dependants (only my 90 year old father and my Samoyed dog) got no mortgage, own a few sports cars, been rattling around in them this weekend, don't get me wrong very very enjoyable, however, my elderly father can't get into any of my sports cars, and the clubman is the only one he can comfortably get in/out of without much trouble, and I feel a little guilty at times, leaving my father behind at home, while I go out and enjoy my cars, so we were out yesterday and just happened to pass a particular dealer make, and my father commented on how he would like to have a look, so I turned around, and pulled onto the forecourt, yes we are in the clubman, I help my father out, and we proceed to the showroom, where we are greeted with a warm welcome but I could see the look of a sales executive, thinking, hmmm a MINI owner is not really our usual clientele, probably just dreaming!
Anyway after a little while we finally get some recognition from another sales executive, I would say middle aged but was very gentle, approachable, friendly, patient and understanding, he made us feel at home, anyway long story short, we were taken out for a drive, simply jaw dropping experience, and we returned to configure chosen model, and currently as I write this, here is what I have chosen, albeit the colour may change yet, that said, I really am struck on this colour, as you can see I am not shy, when it comes to colours, that said they do a colour very similar to the colour of my signature writing, hmmm decisions decisions!
So with deposit paid, a very happy father, and a big grin on my face, we celebrated with a meal out.

Thank you, however I wouldn't say I was an amazing son, that said, I do everything I possibly can, to make sure my father has the best that I can provide, as he enjoys his 90th year, and we all must remember, life is not a rehearsal, so live it, and bloody well enjoy it.
Oh my!
That is an amazing car.
I drive a Clubman and my 93 year old mother is able to get in and out of it, despite severe arthritis. She loves to motor with me in the MINI.
That said, I think she could probably jump over the door and into your new car.
I recently pulled up next to a new Jag at a red light.
It was a beautiful shade of blue, almost a periwinkle, and a convertible, top down.
The driver was a 40'ish year old man and the passenger was a lovely mature lady.
I rolled down my window and said to her "That's my next British car."
She laughed and said that her son had just given it to her for her 75th birthday and this was her first ride!
Does your Samoyed motor with you too?
You must post pictures when you take delivery.
Congratulations!

Good grief! I'm 40 and my midlife crisis cars right now are my '09 MINI Cooper S and a 1990 Mazda Miata that I bought for $1250. Have three young kids, a live in nanny and a sizable mortgage, so no big ticket items for me. You're one lucky man, enjoy it!!!

Does your Samoyed motor with you too? He does, I try take my samoyed everywhere I can, he even travels within Europe on the flights with me, flying doesn't seem to bother him, especially when we go to the scandinavian countries, the colder the better for him.
You must post pictures when you take delivery. I will for sure.

A matt Black 1949 3 window chevy 1/2 ton pick up, sporting a 5 inch roof chop and chassis channeling, semi tube frame, nodular axle, IFS front suspension clip, and powered by a supercharged fuel injected Chrysler hemi V8 again it's a 572 Cu in
And as for modern day cars, I have a few sports cars, currently an Alfa Romeo SZ, BMW 1M Coupe, TVR Sagaris, Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 but they change as and when I get bored and funds allow, I also own a few thoroughbred track dedicated race cars, and 2 kit cars, the latter are an A/C cobra replica powered by a naturally aspirated 427 CU in Ford V8 running 4 dual downdraft IDA's, and a Ultima GTR powered by a twin turbo 407 Cu in V8.
And awaiting restoration I have (and they have been waiting a few years now) a Daimler Dart SP450 4.5 litre V8 and a complete 1963 lightweight E type low drag coupe, this came as part payment on a deal that my father did some 20 + years ago, it came with lots of spare components and body panels too.

You're one lucky man, Thank you, I know I am very fortunate, I do a job I thoroughly enjoy, and it rewards, allowing me to enjoy my passion, of fast cars, faster women and good food/wine, and I will and do thoroughly enjoy it!!!
My cobra replica is not a kit as such, I originally bought an unfinished Dax Tojeiro kit, pulled it apart, had a complete body formed from Aluminum by some associates friends of mine, who work and specialise in hand rolling/forming Aluminum bodies and panels, and set about producing a good chassis to suit my chosen components, this took almost 4 years, I do have photo's somewhere and will post some up when I locate them, I am currently away from home.
Fantastic!
