The Peugeot 206 certainly would have made me make a choice between it and a MINI.

I saw the 206 in the UK last summer- very nice but way more common than the MINI.

VW Passat TDI (130hp version) with a 6spd MANUAL. I used to want AWD as well, but after owning an Audi Quattro, I'll pass.

VW Eurovan TDI w/ same drivetrain. Actually I'd settle for a Eurovan with any TDI engine or tranny...

Unfortunately, VW is fricken' CLUELESS and will only be offering the TDI Passat next year with an auotmatic. And they'll probably complain when they don't sell well...
Volkswagon: neat cars, stupid, stupid, stupid management....

Ah yes, the CSL, with no stereo, no power or heated seats, a carbon fibre roof, and card board on the trunk floor......but who the hell cares when it's as fast and mean as this!!!

BBC TopGear went to the Isle of Man recently to test drive it. I have the episode but it's a 200meg file and there's no place to host that without getting my bandwidth killed sadly..

"I'm not going to even open the bonnet b/c if you even look at that engine, it'll kill ya!" - Jeremy Clarkson

more pics:

CSL = coupe, sport, lightweight.

Basically it's a stripped down M3 that's also modified on the outside and upped in performance. It now sits at 361hp over the normal 333hp. 0-60 now drops to 3.9 seconds

A second level is added to DSC that doesn't monitor as much as the normal DSC.

Weight loss is about 340 lbs over a regular M3.

Maybe they just like to laugh in our face by building more powerful M3's over in Europe? I mean, 2001-2003 has been in the only time in a long time that we've shared the exact same vehicle.

that's a nice profile!

Anyone wanna do a trip to Germany throw one around a track for a while?

Well it's not in production, but if it ever does, I'd like the Seat Salsa to come to the U.S.

Don't hold your breath! Personally, I don't think the ptroleum industry will ever produce European quality diesel for North America. There's no $ in it for the bastards.

Yeah, MINI One D, and the BMW C 330 Diesel.
Especially the latter, since it still does 0-60 in about 7 secs, but gets around 35-40 mpg!
However, I'd have to add that my experience with MINI build quality has made me a little shy about other MINI and BMW products..., but maybe bimmers are not as rattly and shaky as MINIs, and don't spend as much time at the dealer for repairs.
However, I hear the windshields are just as sub-standard.

Oh I want a Trabant
with all its quirks and junk.

Not a Niva, nor a Lada
for those cars I'd give nada.

Just a rusty, smokey Trabant.

Available in Australia, The Ford GT-P Falcon

Also, any good Cosworth products, most recently, the AWD 300 hp Focus.

I want the Renault Clio Sport V6. I'd post a pic but i don't know how. There's a pic of one from the Brusselss auto show thread. It's the blue hatch with the silver vents on the side.
