Saab SUV- oh no!
A Saab 9-7 SUV, based off a Trailblazer platform. Here starts the
slide down of Saab (it all began with no batchback on the new
9-3 then the Saabaru 9-2- tho at least it's a WRX platform

Whats next, the Saab 9-9, based on the Tahoe???

By my reckoning, Saab is the last major domino to fall as far as every single freaking US market carmaker having a big old guzzling SUV in their lineup.
Well, except for Audi, and you know THAT'S not far off now that the Touareg is hulking around on the roads. I understand why it's necessary for them, but it's disheartening all the same.

Thank God I had a chance to own a couple of really great Saab 900's before GM screwed everything up.
My favorite was the original 1979 900 turbo that I restored only to have an elderly driver sideswipe me and total it while I was driving it to the paint shop! That car was well ahead of its time. . . .
My mother continued to buy Saabs after GM took over and it was sad to see how both the quality and the Swedish quirkyness declined. . . .

Amen! I had some great Saabs in the past but also felt a demise. I had a couple of those little 96s with four on the dash and freewheeling. I still see a Saab mechanic driving one around and long for the better days of Saab.

Unless you count the Allroad Quattro.
There's no official EPA figures for the 4.2L V8 in it yet, but the same drivetrain in the Touareg is rated a paltry 14/18!

Yes, with enough horsepower and torque to lug around your own personal tow truck behind the Touareg, so that you can easily transport the thing back to the VW dealership when it breaks down.
(glances at stack of receipts for $3200 worth of unscheduled repairs to the LAST VW TDI I owned...

im my honest opinion, SAAB getting a car from Subaru is a major upgrade
for themselves especially considering the history of problems with the
previous Saab platforms.
not sure about the trailblazer though.
