What would you buy at auction?

You've probably all watched the baby boomers bidding up Hemis and Shelbys and Yenkos at Barrett-Jackson, and the story always is the same: These are the dream cars from their childhoods.
Well, I grew up in a different era, and my list of cars of interest is much more humble! I think a collection of these cars would be great fun to restore and show a decade or two from now.
BMW E30 M3 (white)
Final-generation Mazda RX7 (silver)
Honda Prelude SH (black)
Honda CRX Si (yellow)
Original VW GTI (white)
Mitsubishi Starion with the big fender flares (black)
Late 80s Saleen Mustang (white)
Toyota MR2 Turbo (red)
Ferrari F40 (red, not so humble)
Porsche 959 (silver, not real humble either)
So, what's on your list, supposing you had the dough?

I just like how it is a tiny off road vehicle. Very unassuming yet can handle itself off road - or so I hear.
So out of all I listed, your beef was with the samurai? Who else would lust after the 1st gen Accord?

Some sort of family-car history here? My mom drove a VW Thing for years until she couldn't afford to repair it. Things have a lot of sentimental value for me, but I wouldn't want to own one myself. Somethings are best as memories.
Yes! I just saw one the other day that looked stock and thought that it was a really nice car. Probably going to be very rare to find one unmolested in the future.

I missed the Accord completely. Yes, that's an odd one, too, but if I saw a perfectly preserved example at a car show it would capture my attention (for a moment, at least, not sure I'd stare for too long).

I just think it is a sweet looking car.
