Just some pics for Clover of the 2005 VW Microbus. These are pics of the concept, but VW is saying the production version will not be changed much.

A couple of years ago when I was still driving my GTI, I remember seeing some concept pics of the microbus that looked more like the classic split windshield designs from the 60's. I'd love to see a couple of those pics to see how the concept of the new microbus has changed between then and now.

It is certainly time to retire the eurovan. Maybe I will be able to get a good deal on a fairly new Westfalia Eurovan soon!

^ Yeah, I agree. I like 80% of it, but the front end looks sort of cartoonish to me. Reminds me of Totoro...

It looks like there is enough room for a 1/2 a ton of garbage along with the shovels and rakes and implements of destruction.

I don't understand how they can get rid of the round headlights and call it a microbus. And that pickup version is by far the ugliest vehicle I have ever seen. It makes the Aztek look downright sexy!

The pick-up is pure concept right now. AFAIK, only the bus is going forward to full production.

It's gettin' time for "another dinner that couldn't be beat."

Nice, but since the death of Mr. Garcia and the lack of available Grateful Dead tours, I'd have nowhere to drive one. Think I'll keep my MCS and Motor On.

I kinda like it - at least as far as minivans go.
It's too bad though that VW always takes EONS to bring show vehicles to production. Their show cars are always great, real lookers, but by the time they are available on the market, they are almost old and outdated. This van showcar was first displayed what, 2 or 3 years ago (at least as a drawing / photo), and won't be available until 2005? Too bad. They need to move faster.

I hope they don't try to bring back the Karmann Ghia as well. Some things really should be left alone.

*fear*

I don't like it. It looks like something Barbie would drive.

Lauren,

No nead to fear the Microbus. We all know that Barbie drives a CR MINI Cooper.

Careful though, you might be hauled into court and shown twenty-seven 8x10 color glossy pictures with circles and arrows as evidence against you....

As far as that new Microbus? Let's say that it would seem more in place to have techno thumping from it's sound system rather than the psychedelic strains of the Dead or Phish.

I think it needs a big 'ol floor shifter, not that i-shift looking crap. And there is way too much frontal protection! Live a little! A thin sheet of metal is all that is needed between fun and death.

That's it. I'm goin' to e-bay to find me another split window...

"Obie, I can understand you wanting my wallet so I don't have any money to spend in the cell, but what do you want my belt for?"

And he said, "Kid, we don't want any hangings."
