It's too bad that if you use the car's launch control (which was used for advertised technical data) your warranty ceases to exist....

I really liked this car until I read about the warranty issues :(

It is a great car, unfortunately there have been those that really thrashed on the car with many launches (likely cold or overheated LCs on cars that haven't even been broken in and adjusted at the 1k check up from what I can glean), transmission oil temps and other things not observed or adhered to, cars with modded maps/other things, also effected gray market cars without access to the equipment needed for transmission adjustments or recalls that happened on early release cars or required maintenance and such are a factor in posted about issues. A few incidents have become the focal point on the internet and I believe it has really blown things out of proportion. There are even people posting things on forums that don't even necessarily have the car, so sometimes you have to take the info with a grain of salt.

Seriously, check over at Nagtroc forums for a better idea of how the car is actually doing from owners (although there have also been trolls there as well as people reporting problems without actually disclosing all the facts), there are members tracking them and everything. As for the whole LC thing there is lots of info on that there too, bottom line you drop the clutch endlessly with that amount of power and grip and you know it is is going to be hard on the transmission. The car handles fantastically and has amazing power, I don't even understand anyone wanting to flog it launching it repeatedly like a toy anyway.

Thanks for the info, I'll look into it. I just read an article that says launch control won't be offered anymore...

Right! But maybe yours will be worth more money in the long run?
For good taste in automobiles

Checked one out at the Nissan dealership. Wow what a car I have never been one to like Nissans, but wow. I find it quite unbeliveable that they can make a car with all that technology and still sell it for $73K, amazing. The broucher is mesmerizing

Thanks, we've been lucky to have been able to enjoy some great cars over the years. It really is an addiction

We'll see about the value of the 09 GTRs vs later ones (and it doesn't hurt that we have the first year only in US Ivory Pearl I suppose) , but all in all who knows, unless you have a truly rare collector's car I figure that it is best not to rely on that sort of appreciation. Just gotta drive it and enjoy it

PS: I reckon I should update my sig but since I mostly lurk here nowadays I've just been too lazy to make a new one

You know, I was never really drawn to the marque either (although those old Zs were pretty cool) but they have impressed me with this car and now the 370Z sounds good as well. I guess all companies can change things, as it is I went from being a big bimmer fan, club and all, to not loving the new cars (or service, but that is another can of worms).

And yeah, for the price the GTR packs a punch, of course the cost of materials and thus MSRP has gone up though - so another reason to be glad we got in early

Datsun, Nissan, its all good - besides it's not nameplate that defines the car, I am interested in the drive itself

And si, we bought one awhile ago
