Looks a heck of a lot better than the Smart and if the performance is anything, it will kill the Smart....

It is definitely made to get a share of Smart's market. I put in my deposit for a Smart coming out next year, but once I test drove both the Smart and the Mini, there was no question which one I would buy.
Toyota Yaris is doing really well, so I think the IQ would give Smart a run for the money. It is funny that the linked article has the IQ as the subject, but it actually talks more about the Mini Clubman than the IQ.

Looks like we'll no longer be the reigning "cute" car on the market anymore.
I like it, but it looks awfully stuck-up with that front end. It must be a hybrid.

I think the pictures are a little distorted because they were shot from below. Here is a more leveled pic:

It looks very similar to the Smart fortwo.

Its obvious that Toyota is continuing their plan of copying any new car that comes out. Let's see....IQ vs. Smart. No similiarity there, huh?
Remember when you couldn't tell the difference between a Lexus and a MBZ?
Landcruiser FJ40 and Jeep?
The Scion was a lame copy of the MINI.
I'm sure I'm missing quite a few. Toyota is great at copying an original idea, then refining it to death. I'll hand it to them that they do a good job refining all the problems out of it. But you always end up with a car that looks like something else.

That may be, but I would seriously consider driving that IQ but I wouldn't touch a smart car with a 10 foot pole.Originally Posted by PeterM

Here is a picture of the Smart Car. I took it when I went to one of their test drive event back in May. See any similarities?
