Original Jaguar D-Type at C&C

This week an original Jaguar long-nose D-Type showed up at Cars and Coffee. 9 made - 7 still exist - two in the US - and this one is driven.

This is why this is the greatest weekly free car show on the planet.

Couldn't agree more, some amazing machinery, and it's driven to the show! Fantastic opportunity to see stuff you never see on the road anywhere else outside of a concours or something. Please keep posting these!

9 made? 9!! Wow! Thats a very rare car, nice to see that it is being driven. 9! I wonder how much Jaguar lost from the money they put into the pre-production/production costs.

67 D-types made - only 9 of them were long-nose.

There is a very interesting discussion going on about this car

http://carnuts.us/viewtopic.php?t=11...er=asc&start=0

It may be 'somewhat original' at best it would appear.....

Who is Jagman ????

What makes you think they lost money? These were made to win LeMans.

The D-Type was not intended to be a street car. The XK-SS was on the other hand. Just 16 of those built before the tooling was lost in a fire. There was one driven at a local vintage race about 5 years ago. D-Type or XK-SS street version, they are both very special cars. C&C pictures are actually making me wish I lived in California, at least for a couple of hours a week.

XKD my favourite car of all times

Beautiful LeMans winning vehicle. Somehow it's being parked in two handicapped places seems appropriate.

It's not taking the handicapped spots from those in need of that space, this is at a car show that's held every week in a set aside parking lot just for the show-just to be clear. How about the C-type that was there as well (see MaxN's thread) those two should have been side by side but it's based on when you get there(sort of). I did really enjoy my visit to C&C and look forward to going again-I just hope it's still being held when I finally get back out there! Looking forward to seeing youre Bugeye there soon Cliff!
