Anyone driven Highway 25?

Has anyone driven their MINI on highway 25? It's runs south out of Hollister for 70?? miles. This is probably my favorite motorcycle road in the bay area. It's very well paved, very remote <wink, wink> because it runs down the San Andreas fault, with lots of curves, and beautiful scenery.

We usually ride down to the small country store at the Pinnacles, then head back home.

A beautiful road.

Been on it a couple of times. Excellent road.

About 15 years ago we did some paving work on that road and we were lucky to see more than 20 cars in a day. Unfortunately, as Morgan Hill and Hollister are becoming more and more populated, the cops are starting to get wise to it.

Last time I was on it, I passed two motorcyclists that were getting ticketed.

Last January I had to go up to Sunnyvale on business from SoCal so I took the MINI. On the way back I went south on 25 from Hollister all the way to 198 to Coalinga and back to the 5. No rain after Hollister.

On a Monday, past the Pinnacles, I think I saw 8 vehicles total in about 50 miles. The road goes rollercoaster around Parkfield - a lot of fun!

Awesome road and a great run through Carmel Valley if you turn, or just head straight to the Pinnacles...

About twice a week for the last 3-years!
There is an advantage to living in Hollister.

I've never been, but I am now looking forward to it. I guess Cell phone reception is rare out there? I'd hate to get a flat about half way! It's a long walk!

anyone going to setup a run down that road? I'd be interested!

goldcountrymini - You have the advantage of meeting up with 25 by taking Hwy 5 down to J1 (Little Panoche Rd.) that will take you by Mercey Hot Springs and then onto one of the twistist sections of road I've ever been on.
J1 meets 25 at Paicines and you can go right to Hollister or left to the Pinnacles and beyond.
Coming back from L.A., on Hwy1, I took a right at Paso Robles and caught the southern end of 25 - It is a great road to travel.

If you combine the upper part of Highway 25 with Carmel Valley Road, you get a full day of beauty and excitement. And to top it off, these roads are fairly deserted

This route totals out at 118 miles.

I've done Highway 25 twice, once in my Fiero and once in my MINI.

I don't recommend taking Carmel Valley Rd. Not unless you have a really good suspension, and don't mind tons of dust. There are also fun cattle guards that come up fast and beat up your tires. But when it comes down to it, it's really a judgement call.

I'm up for a run. Just tell me when :-) I'm only about ohh... 45 mins away from the north end near Hollister.

I'll be in the medium-speed group.
