Hey everyone. I thought it would be cool to try to get a bunch of us fellow northern CA MINI folk together for a Bay Area run on July 4th. Maybe meet in the early evening and do some BBQ and then head up a hill or something.... anyone know any good spots?

All who are interested drop your email address here or PM it to me if you dont want it public.

I will likely be picking up my mini that weekend, but I would recomend you all do hwy 1 (very twisty at points esp. north of jenner) and have a Oyster BBQ in Bodega or Bodega Bay or somewhere like that. That sounds like fun. But lots of people don't like oysters.

I may just go to look at minis if I am not picking mine up.
I will give my cousin a call see if he wants to go, he as been looking for some mini people who want to get together for a drive bbq that sorta thing.

You know there is a road between sonoma and napa that is a curvey blast.
Sonoma side = Trinity road
Napa side = Oakville grade
It can be bumpy in spots but it is beautiful and very fun to drive.

We're in...

I'll start checking out a road map of that entire area. Hows about a pre-July run up around that area? Jason, do you have any 2way radios yet, we have two. Got caught on our first Norcal run without em.

Hi, everybody! I live in Sacto and I'm still MINI-less, but I'd like to join you on the July 4th run. JCampos, I'll PM you my email address.

Looking forward to it - let me know what I should bring!

You missed this one on May 1st with MOASF. We had a great run starting in Rohnert Park to Glen Ellen to Saint Helena (via Trinity-Oakville Grade) to a convoluted route to Healdsburg for lunch at Bear Republic. You should also drive Healdsburg to the coast via Skaggs Springs Road for a fun (although long) drive.

Thanks for the tip. You likely drove right past where I work on your crazy trail to Healdsberg. At any rate... I grew up here so I know the crazy backroads pretty well. Also, I read about the MOASF run on 5/3 somewhere. I was pretty bumbed to have missed it, I was still having a colour decision problem at the time so I would have liked to see a bunch in person.

So, next time you all do the north bay you should start with breakfast in Occidental or Graton, they both have out of this world breakfast joints and plenty of twisites in all directions.

winechic,
You should join mini meetup at http://minicooper.meetup.com - there are about 6 members in the Santa Rosa area (including 1 in Napa). We have tried to meet in Graton twice, Occidental once, and Petaluma once since I joined the group. Only three members now are indicated as "active" so meetup usually cancels the event prior to people even responding. Signup, and maybe we can do something local. Never had a meetup except with our own 2 cars hehehe.

I also belong to both MOASF (http://moasf.com) and NorCal MINIS (http://norcalminis.com). Neither group does much in the north bay area. They are both centered in the Pleasonton area so most runs are usually in the east and south bay area. Gets a little old always traveling south all the time.
Maybe it might be time to start a Redwood Empire MINI club.

A group of about 10 MOASF cars will be heading to Portland Oregon over Labor Day Weekend to go to the ABFM. You can find out the details on the MOASF site (check the thread on their forum. It should be a fun drive up 101 (coast highway in Oregon).
