We are having a POKER RUN on Nov 11th. It will take place in Contra Costa and Alameda counties. We are asking those who wish to participate to bring a toy for our Toys for Tots drive. This will NOT be a speed event. Prizes and raffle at the end. It will end at the Nantucket for a late lunch. ( 501 Port St. Crockett ). The starting point and more info shortly. Be at The Black Diamond Mines Regional Park at 9am. Take the Somersville Rd exit south off of Hwy 4 in Antioch. Open to all Minis. First place trophy. Raffle for the club. Bring a toy for the Toys for Tots drive . Total driving time less than 3 hours .

 

Piece of advice to anyone considering actually going into the
Black Diamond Mines:

WEAR GOGGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, went there for a Mustang club run and
the next day my eyes BURNED. I almost went to the
hospital until bits of sand started coming out of my
eyes Lets just say I went through A LOT of
eyedrops!

I believe tourage of the Mine will be offered, but will not be required, in order to participate in the Poker Run. It is envisioned as the starting point for dispatch. That is all. However, don't all MINI convertible drivers own goggles? Aren't they an option on the MINI USA MINI Construction website?

 

Oh oh! I might wanna do this.. Black Diamond is right around the corner from me and I finally got my Mini just this week. In fact, I took it up to the top parkinglot for pics!

Entry is one toy for Toys for Tots. A second toy will buy you an extra card if you don’t earn seven cards on the run when we meet at 2:30 p.m. at the Nantucket Restaurant in Crockett, CA for a late lunch, a full reveal of hands, and awards ceremony.

You can choose to start at the Black Diamond Mines Regional Park in Antioch off Somersville Road if you wish. However, that is only one of four starting points where you can check in to start, earn a card, get clues for other card locations, and visit an interesting Contra Costa County attraction. Today, Sunday and Monday, we’ll post a hint where another start location can be found. It will be up to you to locate it from the clues and go to one of the four start locations on Saturday Morning.

Here’s a hint where another start point and card will be located – (a AAA SF Bay Area Region Map will be of help):

There is nothing really a Round this Valley in East Contra Costa County off Marsh Creek Road. Just horses and horse trails to Los Vaqueros Find it and you can “Preserve” your right to immediately get a card.

Remember Lindsay Wagner, the Bionic Woman? What a wildlife she had. Such an animal. She should have been kept in a Walnut Creek Museum. Anyway, find the Museum that is her namesake and beat the attendant at horseshoes in the park behind the museum to immediately get a card.

 

Even knowing the 3 starts so far, I can't make it afterall. This would have been my first event... but I have some other plans came up. (Its my birthday weekend!) I'd love to meet you guys next time!

If you go northwest of Canyon you can find some great botanics. No. Not the kind you tried in high school or “didn’t inhale.” We’re talking about berries – huckleberries to be exact. Find this Preserve and immediately get a card.

Always gets us out to places we never would
have thought about going to. (even if we continue to
be horrible with directions)
We were a bit upset we couldn't find the Redwood
Valley Railway, then we got home and on turned
on the tv- and there was the Train on Bay Area Backroads
taunting us.
