Our MINI's at Laguna Seca (04/29 & 04/30) - Grand Am!
Guys, I've exchanged a couple of PM's with Tony Nuzzo of Nuzzo Motorsports. Many of us are very excited that our little MINI will still thrive on this large stage! There is a thread going here:

About this time last year this Team got the MINI it's first professional pole position. Along the way in this short journey for the MINI, several track records have been broken, including one by 3 seconds! There is reason for enthusiasm to be high .
More on Tony & Team here:

For any interested in partaking, and helping-out, the support is very much needed. While a win on the track is first and foremost, making this a fun and enjoyable event is not far behind .
Thanks much!
Ciao.

I encourage all of the NorCal MINI enthusiasts to turn out and support Team Nuzzo at Laguna Seca! Tony and his team are great people. YuccaPatrol and I had the distinct pleasure and honor to hang out with them at the Inaugural Races of the new Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama in May 2003.
It is really a treat to watch them race our beloved MINI! Please PM Tony to see how you can organize volunteers to help the team in the paddock and make them feel the special NAM MINI love!

What happened to 20? In the first like ten laps or so I saw him drive by real slow and then pull off at turn 2. The race in whole was awesome, except the m3 that flipped at turn 11. Those cars are LOUD, but it was so cool I live like half hour away from laguna, I think I am going to head down tomorrow and watch the race tomorrow at 12.

The #20 car driven by Tony was flying! It qualified at #4, and was #3 up until the last qualifying lap .
In the first 10 or so laps of the race, he moved it up to the 2 spot, and was prime to take the lead from the Acura... He did have some steering issues before he left the race though. Maybe you are referring to that...
I should have some nice photos, and I'll try to share later... Oh, Tony and Team were a pleasure to chat with, and very affable!

According to the driver (Geoff A?) of the 'not #20' car (can't remember it's number) the #20 car suffered a steering rack failure. I watched it go off at 10, then it pulled back on the track and I lost sight of it until it was eventually towed.
I also got to watch the events leading up to the M3 flipping. The Nuzzo car was trying to get around a TransAm approaching turn #11. He went right, then left, and the M3 tried to cut inside when he went right, and ran out of room at the tire barrier when the Nuzzo car cut left. The Nuzzo car got punted, and the M3 hit the inside barrier and flipped.
It was a great day of racing, and I really appreciated Tony Nuzzo and crew taking the time to talk to us after the qualifying round.
