Vince Tamburo, a NEMO (New England Mini Owners) member, has been successful in arranging for us to get free tickets to the press screening of the new Italian Job movie - provided we arrive in our MINI (or Mini).

IMPORTANT:
The downside is that the screening will be a weekday ... it is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, May 8 at Braintree AMC Cinemas at 7:30 p.m. but that might change.

NEMO has agreed to invite non-members to the event; so if you have a MINI/Mini and want to drive it to Brookline one weekday evening in early May, then email Faith Lamprey: aurora@auroratechedi.com
Tell her your car type (new MINI or classic Mini) and how many tickets you will need.

I do not know how many tickets we can get - obviously this is a first come, first served event. But please do not sign up unless you are sure you can make it.

Weekday, schmeekday. I'm in (I live in Brookline!), but I'm confused. It sounds like the screening is in Braintree; where does driving to Brookline fit in?

Yep, Faith e-mailed me back today and said the 8th. Ian, will you be there? Who else? This will be very cool. I actually haven't seen the original movie yet, so I'll have to get on that.

Faith posted earlier this week that 20 cars (and 45 people) had signed up ... probably a few more now.

Should be a great event - I just hope that they let us have tickets for that many people.

I have the original Italian Job on UK DVD ... I wonder if Jaysen is coming with his DVD capable NAV MINI?

You can get it from the UK Amazon. But it is in their "region", so you have to make sure your DVD player will play region 2 movies. I ordered it, about $20. But only my computer DVD will play it. Great ending...

This is shaping up to be the biggest NEMO event ever (thank you, Vince)! As of Sunday afternoon we have 86 people who have said they are coming with 32 Minis and MINIs. The movie starts at 7:30 so everyone should get there early (around 6:30). We will see if there is an area to put up a sign and cordon off an area for us. If you have family, friends or neighbors that want to come that's great. We have tickets for 200 people. They even went so far as to print the NEMO logo on the tickets!

Well, of course it won't. Most remakes fall way short, but that doesn't stop a creativity-poor, money-hungry Hollywood from churning them out.

How is it that "On The Waterfront" has never been butchered by a modern director? Or has it, and I just missed it?

I find it humorous that Mapquest tells me it will take 22 minutes to get there from my office on the Newton/Needham line!
