Just wondering if anyone has experience with Turner Motorsport BMW specialists in Amesbury, MA. They've got a good sale price on the Borla exhaust for the Cooper right now, and I think I'm going to schedule an appointment with them. I just thought I'd check here first to make sure there weren't any horror stories I should know about.

Anyone who might be interested, they've got the Borla (for non-S Cooper) on sale for $490, and they'll do the install, too.

I haven't actually had them do work on my car, but I've purchased from them in the past. Ask for Doug Mahar - great guy and fellow Mini enthusiast. Very knowledgable. They have a great reputation in the BMW world.

I poked around a bit more myself (over on MINI2), and Turner seems to be highly regarded. I think I will take them up on that Borla sale. The person I talked to on the phone said the install would be less than an hour (i.e., less than $75 or so), so perhaps I'll just let them do it instead of risking my sanity attempting the install using ramps on the street.

Will Turner has been working on my Bimmers for 10 years, including swapping engines, etc. Honest, excellent mechanics, great racers.

They're not a MINI dealership, are they? They're about 15 minutes from me.

I've had great purchase experience with Turner in the past, for my 325i. Their prices are excellent, shipping was prompt and packaged well.

Plus they have a McLaren F1
Two thumbs up

I had a great experience with Turner Motorsport. They gave me a great price on the Borla exhaust and the install ($570 total, taxes and all), let me come in on a Saturday (when they're usually closed and at the track), and were overall very straightforward, professional, and friendly. And there are lots of interesting cars in the garage to ogle.

So tell us about the new exhaust. Sound, power gain, vibrations?

I love it!!! Can't really vouch for the power gains, because I don't tend to hit the higher rpms too often. Apparently it takes the ECU 600-800 miles to adjust to the decreased resistance, anyway. I do seem to feel a different character to the acceleration in 3rd and 4th gears. The car doesn't feel like it's working nearly as hard to speed up. The sound is fabulous. Much lower rumble as soon as the car is started, and just enough extra volume that you know it's there. Not at all obnoxious for cruising around the city, which is what I wanted. It really roars when you get up above 4500 rpm, though! It's great on the highway - no resonance/drone, no vibration at all. And the tip looks really nice, too. I try to keep it shiny.

I would imagine that the Borla for the S has similar characteristics.

Solid source tells me Turner will be doing Hartge. That's good news for bangers sans buckos.
