Friendly mini service NY
Friendly mini service NY
Hello everyone:
I would like to take in my MCS 05 to repair a supercharger belt/alternator squeal and to replace a rear light which seems it has melted inside its casing (weird).
Anyways, since my car has several mods (oil catch can, CAI and exhaust) I was wondering of a dealer that would not give me a lecture about this modfications which BTW don't have anything to do with the mini been serviced.
My question rises becuase I just moved from LA and the mini where I got my car from was a "pain in d ****" to deal with.
So, any basic mod friendly mini dealers I should consider?
thanks for the help.
PS: I live in Williamsburg , Brooklyn.

I have been using Habberstad MINI service since I had my first MINI in 03. I have to say they have gotten a lot better. I had an exhaust on my Cooper (so not to many mods) but they never even mentioned it.
Might want to give them a call. They are in huntington on Long Island. The other dealership which is on the island and a bit closer to NYC is Hassel MINI in Freeport.

Prestige MINI in Mahwah, NJ (about 30 mins outside NYC) is pretty good. My experience is that they won't do warranty work on parts that are obviously related to a mod, but they don't go out of their way to deny coverage on work unrelated to mods, and they don't lecture you either.
MINI of Manhattan is worthless.

I can offer up a second for Habberstad. I just took my mini in for a nav issue and they are good willing the repair (51k miles, wouldn't you know it) without me having to beg, and replacing the Nav Computer. I haven't done the repair yet, but set up an appointment, and they were easy to schedule. My only complaint is they didn't call back when I inquired about the possibility of paying the cost difference to upgrade to a DVD based system.
I have to say: It's nice to hear nice things about Prestige MINI. When we went there, just looking to test drive, the MA who took us out seemed as if he couldn't get rid of us fast enough. Seemed as if he didn't believe I was serious about buying.
That was enough to send me to Westchester, where the folks have been first-rate. Of course, I've only had to deal with the service department there once, so my sample size is too small to help (they were, however, top notch). The fact that they're closer to Manhattan than Mahwah is also didn't hurt.

That's the one. They go by "Westchester MINI" but they're located in Elmsford, NY (between the Saw Mill and Sprain Brook Parkways). Here's their website:
