MINIs on the Delaware August 1st Sunday

MINIs on the Delaware event, motoring and canoeing combined. We meet at MINI of Fairfield County in Beautiful Stamford, CT at 7:00 for sign-in and route sheet handouts, and a bathroom break. Leave MINI of Fairfield for New York State at 7:30 sharp. Along the way we'll have scheduled pickups of additional MINIs. Arriving in Pond Eddy, NY roughly 10:00-10:30, on the river by 11:00-11:15. Off the river 13-15 miles later by 4:30, back in our MINIs heading home through Hawk's Nest(an incredible set of twisties on route 97) by 5:00. The river is gorgeous, warm, clean. Great for swimming and picnicing. Casual rapids entertain and thrill you, hopefully without dumping you in the water! Carving a turn in your canoe takes as much skill as driving a MINI. A cocktail or two is fine on the water, but no glass bottles, and don't overdo it before getting back in your MINI. Designated drivers are a good idea, or moderation. There's a great rope swing to try, GMINI and Tontobird can attest to the fun that can be had on the river. Cliff diving is also available for the daredevils. I hope to see you on the river with us.

You better believe I'll be there again this year, Scott...I'll be meeting up with everyone at the 1st NYS Thruway rest stop after the Tappan Zee Bridge.

See everyone soon.

MINIs on the Delaware

I will have pictures of that event to give to you and the others that participated last year. I have a great photo of you and your co-pilot with a big squirtgun in the river. I hope the weather is as nice as last year. Cheers,

Scott

looking for a head count

Ladies and Gents,

just looking for an informal head count to see how many folks are interested. I want to have enough canoes ready when we swoop down from Hawk's Nest. Cheers,

Scott

7:00 Meet at MINI of Fairfield County 1259 East Main Street, Stamford, CT. 06902
7:30 Leave MINI of Fairfield 95 South to 287 West..
7:45 Arrive MINI of Westchester for a brief pickup of any cars there
7:50 leave MINI of Westechester, take 287 over Tappan Zee Bridge
8:10-8:15 arrive at first rest stop north of the Tappan Zee lower level of parking garage
bathroom break, ATMs, coffee
8:30 leave rest area.. go north on New York State Thruway to exit 16W, route 17N or W..
take exit for Route 84 West (to Port Jervis)
9:15-9:30 arrive at last rest stop on I-84 (between exit 2 and 1)
9:45 leave rest stop take 84 West to exit 1
at exit, go left follow signs to Port Jervis, stay on main road. Look for signs for route 6, and 97. We are going to stay on 97. We'll proceed through Hawk's Nest, those who want speed and twisties, hang to the back...Once past Hawk's Nest go approx. 9 miles, to Pond Eddy NY. When we pass a steel bridge on the river, the next major downhill, look on the left at the bottom for a sign "Jerry's Canoes and Camping", take that driveway. Our plan should have us on the water at 10:30-11:00 latest. We need to be off the river at 4:30, so we can be back at the MINIs by 5:00, and home shortly thereafter. If weather is an issue, call my cell 203.558.1941. We will go if the forecast is anything less than 80-100% chance of rain. I will post on Saturday by 5:00 my indications regarding forecast. Remember the weather is entirely different in that valley compared to where you live. If the weather is good, you will have the time of your life. Cheers,

Scott

River update

MINI Pirates, the weather looks great for Sunday, and we have the MINI welcome mat extended by Jerry's. Pete has given us a group discount of $25.00 per person if we make the 20 person MINImum. That savings will go directly towards beer I think, for most of us.... The river should be a little higher, meaning less rocks to go over or around. Cheers,

Scott

weather outlook is good for Sunday on the river

Hey folks, the weather looks good, low around 64, high of 82, with a chance of rain at the start of the day, and as always during the summer, a chance of afternoon thundershowers. The ride is on.
