Hey everbody. I am bored and I don't like it!

I graduated from college down in Clemson (South Carolina) and moved back up this way north of where I grew up. I was on the crew (rowing) team all through college, but now that I am back up here I need to get involved in something again. Some kind of club or team. Just anything to get me out of my apartment! I'd love to get back into rowing, but it just seems all the teams up here that I've seen so far would cost me a lot (and my new Mini is definitely claiming a fair amount of my paycheck!)

So anybody have any suggestions near Boston that I could look into? Or just anybody with any general ideas? I'm in Quincy, by the way, which is just south of Boston. Thanks!

Maybe not exactly what you're looking for (not a team per se), but I think that Community Boating is the best deal in town, hands down. Their main concentration is on sailing, but they also have kayaks and windsurfing available. They do support team racing (sailing), and hold formal and informal racing events weekly. For $175 for the whole season (April thru October), you can go as often as you want and take as many classes as you want. If I didn't like kayaking so much, I'd probably know how to sail pretty well by now!

Good luck,
Chris

bassalien,

I moved this thread from Off Topic, to the appropriate regional forum, so that you'll reach your local fellow-MINIacs.

Hope this helps.

ah man, i really shouldn't have put boston in the subject cuz i was looking for general ideas from people that are not just in new england. people are on clubs and do different activities everywhere, not just around boston. my mistake for doing that.

Definitely a 20-something lot (well, at least 2) that you will see there at the tunnel run. Myself just will have turned 31. The older ones play at 15. It's pretty widely spread with the median hovering round 36 or something. I tend to focus more on fun than demographics.
