Sunrise Run III NYC

My buddy Aurel posted this over on NEMINI-think you folks would enjoy this, the 3rd NYC Sunrise Run below is an excerpt from NEMINI:

Some of you old school NEMINI members might remember these runs from a few years ago where we met at Grants’ Tomb on the Upper West Side of Manhattan at Sunrise on a Sunday morning and basically stormed the City at our leisure.

It’s the best time for empty roads and encountering wacky characters still making their way home from Saturday night, not to mention seeing the city in a different light.

I was thinking it’s time for another …

We would still be meeting at Grant’s Tomb but with a whole new route in mind from the previous ones. Some pothole –free stretches of road allowing for some spirited driving and some more leisurely, laid back “sightseeing” parts … allowing everyone to enjoy the city, even if you have a lowered car

As of now, it would be me and Trevor (dkstone) organizing the affair and we are shooting for
Sunday, September 7th at 6:30 AM for the meeting time!

The run would end at around 10 AM at a dinner (still to be determined) allowing for plentiful parking.
This will be the biggest challenge for NYC.

Also, we will be printing some cool high quality full color tees commemorating the event. It will have an NEMINI / NYC centric design! I already have someone great in the MINI community that agreed to work on the design and printing with a proven track record.

So as this as just more of an interest generating thread, we would like to know 2 things from everyone …

- Would September 7th work for you?
- Would you be interested in tees and how many? (they would cost around $13-$15 depending on final amount we will need to print … designs would be posted later, but we are going for a very funky modern look)

Oh yes please count me in mate. September 7th works fine for me and I don't see why I wouldn't want a tee unless it's completely hideous! Haha. Looking forward to seeing the designs but even more to an early morning romp around the city. It always looks dream like around sunrise on clear summer/fall mornings and sometimes you even get that light mist if it's cool enough. Exhaust notes echoing off the buildings in the silence. Yeah, this is going to be some serious fun, props from suggesting the resurrection Pedro.

Thanks Peter for posting this!

I'm Aurel on the NEMINI board btw and really looking forward to getting this run organized. Its going to a be a fun one if it all comes together as planned.

Would love to see a lot of people from NYC and the Boroughs attend ... this is the chance you all been waiting for ... a "CITY" event!

So if you are just browsing this thread tell others about it ...

The OFFICIAL registration and all the good stuff WILL HAPPEN ON WWW.NEMINI.ORG

Will post here again once we have a final date nailed down and all the details!

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Aurel, I replied to your post on nemini about forming a MINI convoy on Sunday. I figured since you asked for folks from LI that's where you were based but I see you're in Queens, me too let's figure where the best place to meet up locally is and then head from there. Is Pedrocooper coming too?

The potholes are usually fairly easy to dodge. At the moment I'm running 17" runflats on stock suspension and while it's obviously bumpy at times it's not unbearable or anything.

I'm running 16s on stock suspension and no mods... oh, and replaced the runflats with normal Toyo Proxes 4... was one of the best moves I ever made..

I think when I finally get my 1er it will not have many options - I'm more concerned about other things

Mozza ... this post is regarding Summer Splash this upcoming Sunday right?
If so, 11am meeting between exit 1-2 on the Hutch ... there is a gas station on the right hand side. See you there!

And thanks so far to everyone that ventured over to nemini to put their names on the list for Sunrise. Will have finalized plans soon!

I hear you clearly on that one - I didn't replace mine until they wore out - but then I went for Proxes 4 - which have been outstanding as replacements. My runflats lasted about 20,000 miles or thereabouts..

The Sunrise Run sounds way cool. Count me in, and for a tee-shirt too. I'll jump to the Nemini site and post my name there as well.
