Anyone with MINI Connected and the extra bluetooth package

I have actually asked this in the main audio forum for the 2nd gen cars, but I will go ahead and ask this here also.

I ordered me CM All4 yesterday and was pushed into getting the additional bluetooth (more nudged) by the wife. Now I am reading that it isn't necessary when you have Connected because it comes with one. Is this true? Do I need to spend the extra $500 on top of the tech package? I am still in that window where I can cancel certain parts of the build if necessary.

Doe anyone have both and what do you think?

I have connected not sure what a extra Bluetooth package is or does. With connected I am able to stream music from iPhone take phone calls and when plugged in use the connected app.

Connected automatically checks the Bluetooth box, atleast here in the states it does.

I thought so at first, but they seem to be 2 different systems with the second system being $500 more.

Here are some screen shots of the configurator. The first shot shows the Countryman with Connected an explanation. The second shot shows the additional bluetooth package for an additional $500 on top of the technology package for 2k.

I purchased the the "Tech Package", and I have everything that second image talks about!

Same, tech package came with that... Whenever I would chose MINI Connected on any car (granted it was MINI Connected w/ nav) in the configurator it would automatically select bluetooth and iPod integration for me... as if it had to be apart of it... and I can see why, the system doesn't make much sense unless you have Bluetooth and a USB port for your iPhone or iPod to go along with it.

Yep, the MA talked with a more experienced MA and was told it is an option technically speaking, but a waste of money with connected. It is essentially 2 different blue tooth systems. One that will interact with connected and one with the radio alone. I guess the radio and connected are 2 different components... Actually makes some sense from a manufacturing standpoint. Have different modules that can function alone or in tandem with other modules.

Thanks everyone.

I can confirm that there are two types of Bluetooth, one gives you phone/address book only, the 2nd type gives you Bluetooth Audio (Music over bluetooth), and Office functionality in addition.

wrong.. My connected with blue tooth does it all. Didn't pay an additional $500 for an "extra" bluetooth!

My Connected and NAVI doesn't do bluetooth audio. I've already spoken to to MINI Canada about it, and that is what they, and the dealership, both told me. Just occurred to me that the OP is from Texas, so, the USDM model rules apply.

Nah it is part of connected. There is another bluetooth package that you basically get if you don't have connected/nav and order bluetooth. A quirk in the system lets you order both.

what exactly does the plain BT ($500) pkge offer?
- I did not order the tech/premium pkgs & am in the build process where I can still add this.(BT)
I am an iph user. Cant I just plug this in somewhere? (for music?)
I know w/o it I wouldnt get the speaker/mic wireless phone communication or wireless music transfer, but would I still be able to plug into a port somewhere to play my music?

TIA

I still haven't gotten my bluetooth audio to work yet. The phone shows that its streaming via bluetooth, but I don't hear anything.
