Thanks very much, I think new F series of MINI will be same as BMW.

They will be, and require E-Sys instead of the old NCSExpert/WinKFP tools. It's just a whole new system to learn.

I have a recently purchased '13 MCS and it has the navigation system. I've tried it a couple times and it worked okay. But there's no way I'd drop $200 for any mapping software update when I can use the free Maps app on my iPhone that has yet to let me down.

Thinking about upgrading my 11 countryman nav. Is it still $200+? Does it do anything besides update the maps?

On a separate note.....are there similar yearly updates for mini connected? I don't think it's been updated since I bought the car new.

It's still $200+ from the dealership, although there are much cheaper alternatives for getting everything you need to update the vehicle. The BMW guys have been doing it for years and it's basically the same system. You'd need the North America Move 2015 update for your vehicle for the latest maps. It was discussed a little earlier in the thread.

It also just is a map update and nothing else. There's nothing to really update with Mini Connected outside of the Media and Bluetooth features.

You can goto http://www.mini.com/connectivity/sof...ate/intro.html to get the update, although it's quite outdated. You can get the newest updates from www.bmw.com/update and enter the VIN of your Mini and it'll take you to the latest update. The same update for the BMW works on the Mini (I've been using the newest update from www.bmw.com/update on my mother's 2011 Countryman and never had a problem).

Looks like MINI's Software Update link changed -- same version as BMW's now. UPD01008 for a 2011 Countryman with a November 2014 copyright.

Were you able to update Mini Connected? When I enter my VIN, it tells me my software is up to date. I haven't installed any updates since the car was purchased.
