Navigation & Audio Nav Screen Delayed Start Up
Nav Screen Delayed Start Up
We have a 04 MCS with factory NAV. It has 52,000 miles and has run like a top since we bought it used at 21,000 last year. It is driven in SE WI and Northern IL on my daily 150 mile roundtrip commute.
PROBLEM: When we first got it, when the driver door was initially opened the NAV screen would light up and display the MINI logo. When the car was started the NAV screen, either OBC or GPS (which ever mode was active when the vehicle was shut off) would instantly display. In the last month or so the screen doesn't become active for 3 or 4 minutes after the vehicle is started and in many cases already moving. It still functions perfectly. I have used in on several trips to various locations and the NAV system performed very well. I believe it is a display issue rather than a system boot up issue because we don't see the MINI logo anymore it just comes up on the last mode display.
The vehicle is stored entirely outside and we did experience some bitter cold temps in January and February so perhaps the liquid crystal was damaged. But the problem didn't display itself during the cold weather but weeks after and we have experienced some 60 degree days when the car has actually been very warm inside and the problem persists.

I had the same problem, it actually kept getting worse. Then my battery died. When I replaced it, everything works like new. There is another post where someone had the same exact thing happen to them. So, I am guessing that you probably need a new battery.
