I finished mine last weekend. i am pretty pleased by the outcome.
i installed the amp under the drivers seat and put the crossovers and converter right next to it. the sub is an 8".
I tapped into the HiFi wiring harness right there by the seat and ran most of them back under. The line converter wires are in the wrap as shown in the pic.
I dont have the covers to the crossovers....i need to write JL and see if i can get them.
All the screws in the sub box are there because of a mistake. i cut a hole for a 10" sub but my box did not have the volume to support it. so i had to 'fill' it and start over for the 8"

that'd be a very small amp as i have DSC! really though, i dont want or need another amp as i dont want to replace the back speakers.
i love how the sub cover came out. its similar to MM's but i made it as a completely seperate piece from the box and made it 1 piece. I bought a 15" waffle grill, cut out the flat section and routed the mdf so that it is flush.

This is a very nice install indeed!. I have a silly question for you. From your photo's it appears that you have left the carpet intact over the JL 8" speaker. Do you loose any sound from the subwoofer speaker by doing that?
Thanks, Steve

hi steve,
i have not done any testing of the sub with and without the cover to be able to give you an answer to that. i would have to guess that i am losing a little as the air that would normally be freely pushed by the speaker is being hindered by the grill/carpet. as far as loudness is concerned, i have plenty more gain that i can give it from the amp so i am OK with it.
I did consider using an exacto knife to cut the carpet in the grill locations but then decided against it.

Hey Kookmeyers, congrats on a very nice looking install!

Unless it is heavy duty carpet it should have a negligible affect on your bass.

Would anyone have a source for carpet that match's the stock carpet color?
I have a GP and black carpet is just a little off color.
I am thinking of building a box and would like to get a correct match.
Thanks, Steve

Crutchfield maybe? (they have it, but i am not sure about the color match)or you could contact a local auto upholsterer. i got lucky that a local car audio shop stocks it.
