Navigation & AudioBring your GPS and favorite CD or MP3. This is where navigation and audio options for the Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs are discussed.
I loaded it but havent played with it enough to find anything. If I do, I'll post here.
But I'm not haveing any problems at all with the upgrade, so that's a good thing.
I just had my NAV flashed with the latest update due to problems. What aditional features can iI expect. I heard there is a birds eye view, but I cant find it. I also purchased the latest DVD for a great price.

You first need to enable perspective (birds eye) view before you can select it. Perspective mode looks cool but street names are not displayed, which makes it not useful to me. Here are instructions I posted a while back:
Bring up the main menu
Select Set
Press and hold the MENU button for about 10 seconds. The service menu should appear.
Scroll all the way down to the second page.
Select Perspective and turn it on.
Bring up the GPS navigation screen and display a map
Press the **** and select Map positioning
There should now be three selections: Pointing North, Travel direction, and Perspective
How old was your previous firmware? This is my recollection of what changed in different versions:
V26: Better looking graphics and smoother screen updating
V27: Perspective view. Startup nag screen automatically disappears after 8 seconds.
V28: Ability to search locations by zip code, if you have a 2007 or newer map DVD
V29-V30: Fixes for some models of BMW, no changes for MINI.
I like perspective view, even though names aren't shown.
Just curious: Does anyone know if we have the same nav that is used in all BMW cars? I understand a cheap no-touch nav going into a mini, well, i was a little upset with it... but i can't fathom putting such a cheap nav into a 50+k car. Do the X5s and the Z3s and all of the expensive bmws get these too?
Also, is the 2008 minis' nav the same as this one, or will my next mini have a touch screen?
