Which Navi in 2016 Cooper?
Hi everyone,
My wife's lease on her 2013 Cooper is done in December and she is interested this time around in ordering (for purchase) a 2016 four door Cooper hatchback (non S) and debating getting the everything package.
Does anyone know what version Navi comes with the 2016 model year car? My 2016 BMW has a pretty updated Navi that is very fast and updates itself online using a built-in 4G radio, if the Mini has a similar setup it might be worth the added cost.
Also, does anyone know how difficult it would be to retrofit a mirror with homeland and compass into the Cooper? My understanding is that this was available as an option in 2015 but no longer in 2016. She has always been irritated that this is the only car we own without integrated garage door controls.
Thanks!

I'm not sure how easy it is to retrofit the rearview mirror, but the nav system is pretty similar to what BMW offers with a couple big differences:
- No wireless updating: updates are still done via USB and come out about twice a year
- Traffic info is updated using RTTI, which has the advantage of being free, but not as up-to-date or as accurate as BMWs newer ARTTI (Advanced Real Time Traffic Information)
Otherwise, the 2016 MINIs use the EVO maps, same as the BMWs with a similar interface. The Connected XL option (which is the only option if you want Nav for 2016) also has the touchpad on the controller, like the BMWs for touch input, pinch-to-zoom, map panning, etc.

I originally wished that my mirror had the home link buttons for my garage door, but the mirror is so far away that it's a heck of a reach. I put a mini remote below the parking brake handle and it's far more convenient. Just FYI.
