OEM stereo weirdness

I just purchased a 04 MCS last week with the stock(non HK) stereo. I have been noticing that in the mornings, or anytime the car sits for an extended length of time, some of the pixels don't show up on the stereo display. After about 3-5 minutes they are all lit up. It's always the one to the right of the display. Any ideas?
Thanks

Yeah, I've seen this happen too. I believe it's due to colder temperatures. Next time try gently rubbing your finger back and forth across the screen to warm it up, and see if it immediately brings those pixels back to life!

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Does this sound like a warranty issue?
Thanks

This sounds like the perfect excuse to upgrade to the MP3 playing '05+ deck for free!

This happened to our radio and the dealer replaced it under warranty.

This happens on BMWs also - it's rumored to be from the glue on the circuit boards swelling from climate changes.

Anybody experience a high pitch whine out of the stereo when it is cold? It's only out of the front speakers, and if you turn off the stereo sometimes it goes away. Dealer can't reproduce but I can...

Made an appointment for next week to have it checked out. Hopefully they will replace it. Thanks for the response.
