sick job! thats one of the few enclosures on the mini that i like. i think i want one

hows the sub setup sound btw?

 

Sound from the subs is great. Goes low and is nice and tight, though it does get louder with the windows open. I'm probably over-pressurizing the cabin but it's not too much different. I've just got to sort out the mids and highs now. I've got the positioning for the highs prefect, now I have to make pods for them. The mids are another issue. I need to deaden the door panels and try to angle the mids up and back a little bit. I've got great highs and bass but a massive drop in the midrange.

curious: will you be adding the pins that hook to the cables- i mean strings - that hook to the bonnet, so that when you open the bonnet, the shelf pivots up?

great job there. been following it from the start. very impressed!

 

Should work just the same. I actually had the seats out when I was initially testing since I had to run wires under the panels.

Sorry pimp. I'm very old school I don't even own a camera phone and I don't feel like transferring from DV to the computer.

Most likely I won't be doing the pins and strings. It would probably add too much weight to the hatch for the struts to last long.

 

Why would you want a video of a speaker enclosure working? My guess is that any format used wouldn't havea wide enough audio spectrum to tell you how things are working.

 

very nice work. Just some food for thought. The weight of my cap in the center has cracked mine one time before so I had to redo the top because I didn't make it strong enough the first time. The weight of two speakers is going to be real heavy with all the bouncing in the back. I can't wait to see it all finished.

 

Your set up looks great nocivic. I'm not worry about the piece cracking, I made it quite thick and strong. Unfortunately this is a back burner project right now as I have a ton of work to take care of on the house. I'm in the middle of a bathroom remodel and I think my wife would kill me if I took time off from that to finish the box. She would really like to have the matser bathroom back again.

Not a damn thing! Unless you count my mids finally getting broken in. Sounds great and all, but it's still half finished.

Sorry guys this is still a back burner project. Been driving around with it for the last few months and it sounds great, just doesn't look pretty yet.

 

Better get on it!! AMVIV is right around the corner and we all expect to see (and hear) the finnished product there!

It's officially dead.

As of this morning I have sold the Mini. I might take the form and finish it off for making copies but it no longer lives in a car.

 

Major bummer. What precipitated the sale?

Mainly we need something a little bigger. With two kids, a wife and dog it was just getting a little small.

I'm pretty sure I'll finish the box off and make copies though.
