Navigation & Audio Rear parcel shelf sub enclosure
If you do make a mold and start reproducing them, what kind of material were you planning to use? Fiberglass? Plastic like MTX does w/ their thunderforms?
It'll be fiberglass, since I can do that at home.
Sorry guys. I've been busy but it is actually done. I just have to pick up some terminials to install the amp and power everything up. After which I'll have a listen adn see if it sounds good, then I'll take some pics.
OK, this has taken forever but it is finally done. We'll mostly.
It just has a black spray can finish to it just now for listening and testing and I don't want to cover it before I have molds taken of it. But it is in the car and working, and it actually sounds rather good.
For good measure I have included pics of the mids and highs and empty boxes of the installed product. The tweeters are in a temporary position for image testing and will be later glassed in small removeable pods, as my a-pillars have airbags in them.
With no further ado here are the pics;
Equipment boxes

Tweeters from the outside

Tweeters from the inside

Tweeters from head position in each seat

Mid is behind the stock location

Amp mounted underneath the passenger seat. There is a nice recessed area beneath the seat that has a 2" styrofoam block which can be removed to fit the amp below the carpet level. I just cut the top of the carpet away to reveal the amp and let heat out.

And finally the enclosure

OMG....lol...we started something very similar to this when were workin on dopamine but, we opted for what our final product was. glad to see it came out and it works.
wrap in that same vinyl as the interior. that would look great...thats what we did.
great job!!!

I've gotta admit that I'm surprised that you've put the tweeters in such a conspicious space when you did all that work to hide the woofers. Flushmounting the tweeters in the pillars would look much better in my opinion.
But the sub box is awesome. Too bad that wouldn't work in a cabrio.

The tweeters are temporary right now. I just have them in place for imaging testing. If they end up staying there I will build a pod for them that blends in with the rest of the area. Right no they look like a pair of eyeballs sticking up out of the dash.
Looks very nice so far - I definately want to see the finished tweeter pod installation. You may have said in in a previous post, but about how thick is the box? It looks about 6" tall from the pictures.
Fantastic project. Looks like you were able to keep most of the space back there as well - a plus for the daily commute, and a plus for the non-permanent fixture that can be removed for Autocross! Going to have to mark this thread for when I get my next MINI.
