Are Cabrios pre-wired for CD Changers?

And if so, where would I find the wiring?

I've read some posts that say it has it and some that say it doesn't. I was hoping to find out for sure before I order an XM direct kit.

Yes - it's been confirmed on the MY06 Cabrio. The CD Changer wiring will be on the passenger side in the boot area.

Not totally true. I know two 06 cabrios and one has the harness and the other does not. Not sure why but this is the case....

you will find it at on the left sideof the compartment at the bottom. The floor piece is easily removed but the side panel has to be removed to find the cable. I know mine had it and I have H/K. Don't know if that makes a difference.

Good Luck

My 07 Cabrio has it--I've hooked up the Dice and it works great.

PetesPepperWhite:

This is a great confirmation. Tell me, was it as easy as finding the cable (which still isn't really clear, wonder if anyone has any pictures?), plugging the Dice in and your iPod, and then it all works with no other interaction? I hear that this then allows you to see the playlist, track names etc. on the radio? You don't happen to have Nav do you? Question is whether all of this works as easy as it sounds, even with Nav?

I don't have Nav so I can't help you there...search the forums. The Dice does all that and is a simple matter of connecting the cords and running the cable to the front of the car. To get at the connectors you have to remove the side panel in the boot by prying out the small round black clip which looks like a screw but isn't and the white insulation underneath the panel. The cables will be found taped together near the seat belt tensioner. There are two, a small one and a large one which correspond to the two on the Dice cable. The hardest part is replacing the panel when you're done.

I installed the Dice HD in an 06 Cabrio. I have the OEM Sirius. The Dice install was less than an hour. most of the time was spent running the harness to the front. It is really plug and play. Once you figure out how to use the program buttons it works like a dream. I have some pics from my Sirius install in my gallery. That may help.

Good luck.

For those that do not have the trunk harness, we can offer the radio interface kit. It's a much easier installation anyway.

My Cabrio doesn't have the CD Changer harness in the boot. I had to buy the adapter for the HU. I'm in Canada btw, this may or may not make a difference.

Your region can very well be the difference. For example, BMW does not install telephone wiring on vehicles not ordered with a phone. The same may apply to CD Changers (same overseas).

Regardless, our MINI Prewiring kit will be perfect for you.

Yes, received last week and installed. Works well, still have a small problem with my install, unrelated to your kit.
