CD Changer Harness in 2006 MCSc

I have seriously been considering the DICE IPOD adapter now that there is an HD radio option. The only problem is that I have the factory IPOD adapter and no CD changer. From the posts I may not have the wiring harness may not be present. Has anyon confirmed if this is true or not?
I have looked, but can't even figure out where the cd changer might go on the MCSc much less have found the harness. I love gadgets and want HD radio.

We've confirmed it, there is no CD Changer harness present on the MY06 MINI. However, we have 2 options for you in the meantime that we were quietly working on over the holiday weekend:

1. We have our own trunk harness completed that connects to the head unit and allows the CD Changer connections to reach the boot area. This is intended for MY06 and GP owners to utilize the DICE and XM or Sirius radio. There will be 2 versions of the harness available.

2. We have a Radio-interface harness that will connect to the rear of your MINI's radio for the DICE. These are being placed on the website shortly, but feel free to contact me directly if you would like a kit in the meantime.

Either way, we have you covered.

Excellent. Just another quick question before I order, is there room behind the radio/dashboard area for the dice HD unit? Or will I have to run wires to the boot?

The DICE module can be placed underneath the seat or behind the glovebox/dash area depending on where you would like the iPod to reside. The connections can source directly at the head unit or in the boot area, depending on which kit you prefer.

Let me know if you have any further questions on the kits.

I don't think that's true. All 06 MINIs have the CD changer harness. Look in the right rear cubbyhole in the trunk. There will be a thick black cable consisting of smaller cables bound together. The 2 CD changer adaptors are bound to this cable with tape. Feel around in the taped areas and you will be able to locate the 2 small connectors. Just remove the tape to use them.

That's correct. My 06 MCSc has it and I've got my XM Direct Receiver hooked up to it through a Blitzsafe adapter.

How exactly have you confirmed this? A little searching on NAM would have shown that the CD changer wiring has been confirmed to be present in the 06 convertables.

We believe its back there too. We were able to confirm the connections were back there on a 10/06 build MCS and no CD Changer prewiring in the MINI GP. More info in this post:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...2&postcount=71

We just need a MY06 Convertible to inspect next.

We've found the connections on MY05 vehicles, other posts are claiming the connections are not present in MY06 vehicles, in which we think they are.

The only vehicle confirmed with no CD Changer prewiring is the GP.

Is the CD changer harness wires available in the boot area if the 06 MCS has the Harmon Kardon audio option?

So far we're been able to confirm the following:

MY06 Cooper/Cooper S = CD Changer connections in boot
MY06 Cooper/Cooper S Convertible = no CD Changer connections in boot
MY06 GP = no CD Changer connections in boot

For those vehicles that do not have the CD Changer connections, we have a specific wiring harness in order to "prewire" the vehicle:

If anyone has experienced different, please feel free to chime in. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Tom,

As I posted earlier in this thread, all 06 Convertibles with or without the HK have the CD Changer wiring harness installed in the boot area. The connections are located behind the right hand side trim piece. Here are a few photos that show where:

For reference, this is my 2006 MCS Convertable with HK Stereo System.

Also, here is an install guide for the XM Direct/Blitzsafe bundle into a Convertable that I posted a while back

Phil

Any suggestions on routing the cable for the DICE HD unit from the boot area to the dash area under the glove compartment. Also, the antenna needs to have a ground connections. Any ideas of whee this can be connected up near the dash area. Pictures would sure help too.

The antenna can be located on the top left hand side of the windshield and grounded withe the sun visor screw. This will give you optimum reception.

Otherwise, the trunk harness can be tucked behind existing interior panels and door sill trim without removal to the glovebox area where the DICE module will reside. The iPod can exit into the glovebox or in front of the shifter when completed.
