Yeah I am looking for more info on the DICE HD unit as well. Just saw that it was posted up today with a rebate... Do you have any pics of this mounted in a MINI so that we can get an idea of its size and fitment? Also does it support NAV screen support for displaying info on the 03 MINIs with NAV?

Thanks,
BEATNUT

The kits have not yet been released, we are shipping in 1 week. We will have full instructions and DIY shortly after release. Dimensions of the HD DICE module are approximately 9"x3"x3".

Just bought a nano, Dice, and $180.00 Shure headphones which have incredible sound. The price on the headphones sucks but the sound is well worth it. Once you try it you won't go back to the cheapies. Thanks for the help guys and can't wait for the Dice to show up.

On the DICE with HD radio - does the module still plug into the unit in the 'trunk', does it still fit behind the panel (the photo makes it look big)?

thanks - getting close to going with DICE with HD radio with iPod cable...
Perform the following steps:

1. Turn Radio Off.
2. Turn Radio On.
3. Press and hold the "m" button for about 10 seconds.
4. Press - or + to navigate, you will need to go to the 2nd screen to look for the SW Verison which is in a SV xx-xx xx format.

Let me know the numbers you see. Turn off the radio to exit.

Unfortunately, you are not compatible for CD text - it must be 50 or higher.

I figured as much

so all I'm missing out on is text on the HD? One last question; will the iPod screen light up when operating the iPod from the multi-function steering wheel just like using the iPod 'as is'?

For pre-2005 vehicles, you will not have text compatibility. On your backlight question, This depends on your iPod's backlight settings - but it can be set.

I made a crude 9"x3"x3" box out out cardboard to see where in the boot it can be installed. If you have H/K then there's no way it'll fit in the side cubby. If not then it might just fit. So if you have H/K then the only place I can see is the area where the OEM CD changer mounts.

If you have an early build MCS with NAV, does the HD unit display information on the NAV screen since you cant use TXT on the headunit?

The DICE module comes in the cabin are a with you - more than likely underneath the seats or behind the dash. It is positioned close to where you would like the iPod to reside, we'll have pictures in an upcoming DIY.

It displays on the radio and NAV, however some NAV users report the currect DICE kit overwrites the NAV maps. We would like to have a local MINI w/ NAV stop by so we can see beforehand and find a solution if needed.

That's good to hear. Since the HD Dice module connects to the CD changer plug, I figured the module has to be installed somewhere in the boot.

Please let me know when the DIY comes out.

Definitely - we'll be mirroring the DIY to the forum also.

I didn't see anything about how the user operates it. Would you use the headunit almost like a regular radio (scan next/previous station + presets)?

Correct - you would select the HD mode from the DICE UI, once in that mode, it looks exactly like AM/FM on your MINI's radio.

Tom, please explain HD antenna hookup. This wiring diagram was shown in the announcement

that shows connection to the "Factory FM antenna", but your vendor announcement mentions a HiDef antenna that has delayed initial shipment. Does HD involve installing a separate antenna or a modification to the existing one?

Good catch! The design was changed slightly after the pictures were made and do require a separate mini HD antenna be installed, which is included with the kit.

We had one of our customers check the for the CD Changer connections on a 10/06 build Cooper S - the connections are present:

We're able to confirm there is no CD Changer prewiring in the Mini GP and are still waiting on a local volunteer with a Convertible to verify.

Back to the same GP, were able to integrate XM Direct and the DICE iPod kit as seperate modes with a custom wiring harness, complete with ID3 text on the radio display.

The GP has Bluetooth also, and everything (XM/DICE/Bluetooth) works seamlessly together.

More coming soon.

Hello!

Let me jump into this thread, and ask a semi-relevant (I hope) question: I am not looking at the HD radio, but rather the iBMW-T DICE iPod Integration Kit for BMW, Trunk interface Kit. I currently have a Zen Micro MP3 player plugged into the AUX port. It would be worth it to me to buy an iPod if I could get two main things:

1. Have the iPod cut on and off with the car (I never remember to cut off my Zen when I turn the car off and it just keeps playing and playing). It looks like the DICE will do that with no problem.

2. See on the display on the radio the name of the track I am listening to. I have read that the radio has to support CD Text, and I don't know if mine does.

The radio I have is the Harmon Kardon. I performed the steps here:

and got back this: SV 21-06 53

Does this mean the text will show up and I am good to go?

Thanks!

Tom,

I also wanted to point out that the radio that you are showing that came in the GP is made by Siemens VDO and has TMC capabilities. Since I live here in Germany, I actually sold my Alpine boost radio so that I could install one of those to get TMC working here for my NAV. Works like a champ.

Basically to all you GP owners, you could "sell" that unit to a person with NAV here in europe for a nice price. I paid 200 Euro for mine.

I have had my Dice installed for a bit over a week and I love it! It is quick to respond when the buttons are pressed on the steering wheel. Sure, it displays the information on the HU but I don't really look at it. My music is ALWAYS on random, so it works out well. I have mine connected behind the HU and into the glove box. I start it up and never touch it again.

hope this helps a bit.
