We have the trunk interface kits in stock, these are the most popular. I just shipped the last radio-interface kit in stock yesterday to a GP owner, we will have more in stock in a couple of weeks.

The trunk interface kit not a tough kit to install. If you decide upon Sirius radio, it is required over the radio-interface kit.

Actually, the Boost are have a higher output than the Wave. However, in the states you only get the Boost in the MINI as the Wave is not an option. Some of the GPs are being sent out with the Siemen VDO version Boost which also incorporates TMC. Lastly, not all of the HUs can display text. This feature wasn't incorporated until the late 04 early 05 models so if your Boost radio is made before that, you may be out of luck.

One last thing, I would check your boot first to make sure that the connections are there. Some new MINI owners are finding that the CD Changer Boot harness is NOT being installed at the factory. If you don't have this piece, it will be a little hard to hook that Boot DICE up.

Most times the connections are there, but well hidden. I haven't been able to confirm if the connections are present in the GPs, but we have a radio interface harness for those models.

I know for a fact that the CD changer connections are not in my boot (dealer checked). I've heard this is the case with at least the 06 Convertibles.

The dealers said the same about the MY05, and we found them (well hidden). If someone with a MY06 Convertible in the OC area would like us to check, contact me directly and we'll be happy to locate them for you.

Believe me when I say we went fishing. I had the sales guy, and two mechanics hunting for them in the parking lot.

If what you say is true, then MINI Sirius is not compatible with the MY06 Convertible. If we cannot find a local, we'll just make a trip to our dealer.

I have a buddy with an 06 that the plug is not there. We removed all the tape. I checked mine and we found them but his are just not there. We checked with the dealership and were told that they are starting to omit the harness piece unless the CD player is ordered. Wouldn't have believed it until I saw it.

Help with MINI iPod adapter

Folks I'm stumped. Our MCSa has a stock MINI iPod adapter and all is working well with exception of my iPod.

I turned off the radio (as the manual calls for), the iPod gave me the message it was okay to disconnect, I disconnected and the blasted iPod never returned to the normal mode. I had to reset my iPod according to my owner's manual and the device works fine. However now it isn't recognized by my radio/iPod connector in the MINI. I know the connector works because my wife hooked up her iPod and it worked like a champ.

Any thoughts?

More than likely its iPod related.

Do you have a backup of your music? I would recommend performing a restore on your iPod and reloading your music.

Thanks Tom - I'll give that a shot. Since my wife's iPod worked I assumed it was probably related to my device. Hopefully this will work.

Thanks Tom

Tom your suggestion worked - I appreciate your help. Guess the electronic version of a slap on the face was all my iPod needed.

Sorry to bud in but can someone tell me what option gives the best sound. I have a feeling using the headphone jack will take some of the sound quality away.

You're right - the headphone is a high level output made to drive a set of headphones. Essentially it's like making a photocopy of a photocopy, it works - but suffers in quality.

Getting the signal from the dock connector is preferred. This can be performed with our RetractCable if using AUX, or go the DICE route and get steering wheel control and charging as well.

We have an 06 MCS with the HK and a 30G iPod--same as you. We had the dealer install the factory iPod adaptor when we took delivery last November (yep, it's been a year!).

I was surprised that the head unit would not display the name of the song, especially since it has no problem doing that for radio stations. I asked the folks at the dealer, and they just shrugged and said that "some of them do, some of them don't". We never got more explanation than that.

That said, we use the iPod adaptor all the time. I NEVER use the MINI1, MINI2, etc. playlists. We just go to the point in the iPod music list where I want to start listening, start the iPod and then connect it to the adaptor with the audio system already on. This is the same way I listen to the iPod the rest of the time when I'm walking or watching one of the kid's soccer games, or whatever. If you really want to hear the beginning of the song, just hit the back button on the MFSW after connecting the iPod. Since I'm seldom driving for more than about 40 minutes at a stretch this works out fine for me.

But, yes, it is annoying that it doesn't display on the head unit.

The headunit wasn't designed to actually show the ID3 tags. The aftermarket ipod adapters take advantage of the telephone channel that is built in to push the text to the display. This is why folks with the NAV can't really use text as it overrides the map. Text is only availble on 05/06 models as those are the HUs that can support it.

We've seen text support as early as 2/05.

Correct - we've been stating 4/05 as a definite. SW version can also be checked on the radios.

how can I check this SW version and from what SW version is the text fully supported? I probably have one of those 'hit and miss' cars, made in 2/05.

On the DICE with HD radio - does the module still plug into the unit in the 'trunk', does it still fit behind the panel (the photo makes it look big)?

thanks - getting close to going with DICE with HD radio with iPod cable...
