Alpine CDA-9857: Feedback wanted

I'm looking into purchasing an Alpine CDA-9857 and am curious as to comments from those of you who have installed it. Sound quality compared to stock unit, etc.... any comments would be appreciated also does the PAC SWI allow you to use the remote buttons from your steering (06S) as advertised without a problem?
Regards

Hello,
I've been running the 9857 for about a week now.
THe Alpine in my car is replacing the H/K. I will post up some pics in a few days.... still have a couple of things to get installed.

Here are my impressions:
Sound quality over H/K is MUCH better.
Lots of control options for crossover settings, sub settings etc.
Volume is much louder. (I can hear well with roof open and windows down)
Flexibility is TREMENDOUSLY better (ipod interface/sat/HD radio etc....)
Looks very good.... but doesn't blend with the dash all that well.

Now for the PAC SWI-ALP.....
easy install.
easy setup (thanks to help from TampaMCS)
works almost as well as standard setup..... I can't get mine to control the "track up/down" when in CD mode. If I set it up including the "track up/down" buttons, then my "preset up/down" (in fm mode) becomes "station seek".
If I leave off the track programming... it works as normal.
I've emailed the manufacturer about my issue and am waiting for some more info from them.

Stay tuned for some photos.
Donald

BTW, I'm totally satisfied with mine. I still have the stock speakers. Their sound has improved to where I've delayed replacing them.

I don't know why the link I provided does not work, but just enter 9857 in the Navigation and Audio forum search and you'll get a bunch of posts re the 9857.

Here is my mini-review of the 9857.

I like this HU, but I really wish they would address the usability problems with the iPod. I've had the thing for 6 months and the easiest way to get your iPod configured is before you connect it to the HU.
