A friend with a HK system including the 6 disk changer in the boot asked me about playing MP3s. I told him that the changer would read MP3s off cds but he mentioned that he was interested in using his existing MP3 player.
Can anyone tell me definitively, will a HK unit take the AUX input or Ipod adapter?

Yes it will take the Aux.
I have currently the HK, Sirius and the Aux Adapter and they all play well together. Originally I also had the ICELink and a Sony Ericsson HCB-300 Bluetooth kit in that mix as well with no problems. The ICELink and HCB-300 ended up getting removed due to other issues... (The HCB-300 died, and the ICELink UI just got annoying)

Thanks Michael.
Do you know if the iPod adapter and the AUX input use the same connection on the back of the head unit?

No, different connection. You can have both and they will show up as differnt devices as you cycle through the MODE button.Originally Posted by Agro

Is it possible to have the AUX if you have the OEM Bluetooth, and XM? I do not have NAV and I don't have the CD Changer but I do have the HK unit.

Very true, but don't the iPod adapter (not AUX input) and the 6-Disc CD changer use the same connection?Originally Posted by supergimp

Ah, good point, I missed the 6-disc changer part of the original post. I have the iceLink, which replaced the changer, and have helped a friend put in the OEM iPod adapter, but they didn't have a changer. It may be possible that the OEM iPod adapter piggybacks the CD Changer (like the OEM Sirius kit) but I'm not sure.Originally Posted by dickdavid

I don't think the OEM Bluetooth should affect the AUX, since the PHONE input is a separate thing. I don't have the OEM Bluetooth, but I do have NewMiniStuff's BT Kit and it shows up separately as "PHONE" on the headunit which tells me that it works the same way as OEM.Originally Posted by HEMI-MINI

As far as your XM installation, I guess it depends on how it was installed. If your headunit says "AUX" when you are listening to XM, then, yes, you are using your AUX already.
Whaever combination you use, be aware that you may have to go through some shenanigans of popping some pins out of one connector and adding them to another. I know I had to do this with my combination of HK/AUX/iceLink/NAV. I can't remember the details, but it's well documented here on NAM.

I think you are right the ipod adapter and cd changer use the same connection so, I think it's one or the other.

No worries Manny.
I installed the AUX adapter in my car, so if you decide to go that route, I'm more than happy to help.
