Ten Technology flexibleDock for iPod

Does anyone have one of these? It looks pretty cool

I like the fact that the audio output is at the bottom so I would have less wires to play with and hide. And it works with all iPod models.

But the plug is at an angle so I don't know if it would fit into the MINI light socket. Anyone know?

I have one and it works well...

I put one of these in our '06 MCS after I installed the OEM Auxillary input and it works quite nicely. The base is at the wrong angle (designed to be used in a horizontal cigarette lighter socket) but you can work the flexible neck to accomodate the vertical cigarette lighter insertion in the Mini's.

Puts the iPod (using it with both our full sized iPod and a iPod Nano) in a good position, drop me an e-mail or PM and I'll try to snap a picture for you. The iPod is held quite securely and you have to push on the two square buttons at either side of the base to release it, so far, no mishaps.

My only desire is to hack into it with some sort of custom M-Bus PIC circuit so you can control the iPod from the MFSW controls...that would be a great project.

Thanks for the input.

I was hoping that this might be an option that could be used in combination with the aux input. Right now I have a charger plus an aux cable and I keep the iPod in one of the cupholders. It works but it doesn't look too good. Plus I have to pick up the iPod every time I want to change selections.

I assume that the iPod sits at about the level of the radio? If you have a picture of how it looks, that would be great.

I have also been looking for a way to combine an iPod charger with a line out feed (better sound than the earplug port at the top) going into an Aux input. The flexibleDock is one of the better looking (both physically and practically) options I've come across. I wonder, however, if having a stalk coming from the lighter socket doesn't severely block access to the storage area under the switch panel. DaveC - has this been a problem for you?

I've also been considering the Monster iCharger, which has the line out female port coming from the dock connector, and a low profile charger plug attached to a flexible power cord. In this case the negative is the rather large bundle of wires, and the need to get a separate mount for the iPod, if I want to avoid the upside-down-in-the-cup issue.

The SiK-Imp is a third possibility. Charger to cable to dock, with a dangling, short, line out female plug. Lots of cables, plus its white, so very visible, plus the cup problem remains.

If you have a nano then look into the Griffin Tuneflex. I got it for $30~. It also has a two position audio output level and a aux plug at the base.

Looks like Griffin has come out with a new TuneFlex that can hold any size iPod, including a 60 GB. It plugs into the lighter and there is AuxOutput at the base

Here's a review. http://ipodgarage.com/article.php?id=1818

I think I might have to get this one.

If you have the Euro shelf and are a little handy, you can install a lighter socket horizontally in it. Might make this a perfect option - depending how long the flex tube is.
