Another speaker replacement question
Hello all,
I'm considering installing some full range 6X9s in the rear of my H/K equipped MCS.
I usually listen in the "electronic" mode.... because some of the other listen modes produce too much echo/delay sound.
If I understand correctly, in the electronic mode, the rear speakers are only Subs.
So my question (finally) is....
If I install some 2 or 3 way 6X9s in my car, will I have to listen in another mode in order to utilize the mid/highs in the 6x9?
Thanks
Donald

Search for more info on the H/K audio system- see review and how to set the controls for H/K.

The rears are also 2 ohms.
If you put a "normal" full range 4 ohm single coil speaker in there, you would reduce output power by a factor of 4! And you wouldn't get more highs, since the H/K amp isn't sending them to the rear speakers.

2 ohm speakers in the rear? wow, I'm glad you told me that.
Does anybody sell 2 ohm 6x9s?
So I guess the best bang for the buck would be a nice set of components for the front......
The rears produce enough lows for my listening, but the front is lacking a bit in the mid and upper range sound (IMO).
I'd like to get a little louder too, I can hardly hear the radio when the windows are down on the highway.
I understand that an amp will be about the only way to get "louder"..... but I figured an upgraded speaker with some dynamat might get me closer to what I'm looking for.
Thanks for the input

Tacotim - a one time NAM member (still around?) - measured the H/K and found the speakers VERY efficient. He said most aftermarket speakers will reduce the maximum volume since they are less efficient.
