Regarding this question of whether Mac users need an ISO file instead of the MDF file that is more commonly uploaded, since it's a standard in the PC world, you won't believe this, but ... they're exactly the same format. All we Mac users have to do is change the extension of the .MDF file to .ISO, and the file will mount using either Disk Utility or Toast, and can then be copied onto blank media. Any other files such as a small .MDS file can be discarded: the only important one is the image itself, the .MDF file, which is renamed with a .ISO extension.
Pretty cool, eh?

1. rename the .MDS file as per ericwestby's instruction
2. the icon of the former .MDS file changes to a standard IMAGE file
3. using TOAST select the tab COPY
4. select under FORMAT: IMAGE-file
5. burn your CD (i did use a burning speed of 4x)
6. update your software according instructions posted in this forum
7. enjoy!!!

Note: I am pretty sure of the above, but not 100%. I might be proven wrong...
EDIT: I was proven wrong - the MDF file is all that is needed regardless... but creating the MDF file from a copy protected disc would probably require more attention to the configuration settings.

Sorry for pointing to the wrong file.(What a typo....) Eric is 100% correct. The .MDF file needs the attention.
Keep on motoring
I'm looking for some software for the mac to allow the editing of the ISO file to do the British Voice hack... I'm not really sure where to go from here. Google searches for OS X ISO editors have not turned up much unless I don't know what I'm looking at ( most likely ) - Like others, I can do this on my work PC, but am trying to do the work around on my mac.
Any suggestions on software?

yet? I guess TOAST Titanium for MAC might work. Good luck
I'm having a heck of a time getting a cd to burn properly. I've downloaded from all of the sites (both rar and iso). I bought WINRAR to extract the files. I bought Alcohol 120% to burn the CD. I've tried several times to meticulously follow the directions. All I have are several useless CD's and a computer loaded with junk files. Now I can't delete the downloaded files because I get a message that the file is in use (probably in the virtual drive created by Alcohol). Help!
I'm clueless at what point your having issues. Where do you find the process to be getting blured?
Not, to **** you off but you didn't have to buy Winrar or Alcohol 120% to use them just to complete this task.

I'm not sure where the breakdown is occurring. I was just so frustrated that I bought the software in case there was some sort of key that was screwing me up. I'll use them anyway, so no loss. What I've done so far: Ive gone to the down load site in the latest post. Downloaded onto my desktop. Used WinRar to extract two files into a folder for mini. One file, NAV SW MDF, 295,374 kb, and the other is an MDS file, 1kb, both dated 6/5/06. I used Alcohol to burn the cd. It called up the MDF file. The ejected cd shows 250 mb and no files, but I can see where it was burnt. I was able to burn a cd from the virtual drive and folders and files did show. But when I insert into the navi unit in the mini, I get an error message. Frustrating!
I recommend you disable the virtual drive first, and try to burn a CD directly from the ISO image file on your "real" hard drive. I'm not saying for sure that it will work, but I am just hypothesizing that the problem might be related to the virtual drive software.
frankg, if it makes you feel any better, I had the similar issue. Several burned disks that show files in Alcohol, but appear empty. In the end I gave up. Guess I'll wait until V28 is available...
(Note that I've downloaded/hacked/burned files before and it worked fine - don't know what the deal is with this one.)
