Navigation & Audio Anyone installed the Alpine IVA-D310 or similar?
I have the 310. I have had it for a year not and love it. I agree with the above posts that the iPod integration is very slow, but you can scroll all your artists and playlists.
I had my installer mount the "brain" in the footwell of the passenger side. No bother to anyone who has ridden in the car.
FWIW, I would go with the IVA W200 now if I had a 2-DIN car. In fact that is what we are doing in out new GTI.

That is one less box to mount if you were to add an AMP to the D310. And it makes it easier if you want to upgrade the AMP later.
Now, the next decision is the NAV. Do I go for the in-car NAV NVE-872A or the Alpine Blackbird? They both interface with the D100. The 872 has the 3D view, much faster processor and voice control. The Blackbird is cool since you can get the new dock and external antenna and mount it out of the way (like the glove compartment or boot). Then I would always have a portable GPS as well as the in-car option. Plus the Blackbird is $1000 less..... If anyone has any opinions I would love to hear them.

Blackbird has smaller POI database (don't remember the approx. no., but it is something like 6,000,000 POIs) and you have to interface with the Blackbird from its screen. Once the address to go to has been programmed into the Blackbird (using the Blackbird's screen), then the turn-by-turn directions can be sent to the D100 via the aux-in interface.

The only problem with Alpine products (from my personal experience) is the over-optimistic release dates. I wanted to put an IVA-W200 in my Volvo XC90 (if ever there was a car that needed the factory stereo system replaced, that is it...). The release date was March, 2006. The IVA-W200 showed up at the installer on June 20th....
) and would not hold my breath on the delivery date on the docking station. That is the only reason I have not picked up the Blackbird. ( I did use the demo unit and it did map out a resteraunt my wife and I wanted to get to that eve.)

Did you see my previous post about the KCA-410C? I am really curious to know if that would work....

Hey sfgrunge,
I did see that post and it would be nice to know if that would solve the problem, but no one can tell me for SURE it would work. My installer is 2 hours away and he is great but he does not carry Alpine & my local Tweeter guys can't tell me plus I really do not want to have my interior taken out for the 3rd time. BUT ....... I was told that the Ai-net was the problem.
Later
PS. probally going to go with the Motorola IHF1000 BT

All in all I am extremely happy and considering what was available a year ago it was the best choice. Now I would go with the new 100 or if double DIN is an option the W200. That's what's going in the GTI
The screen is parallel to the speedo but the angle can be changed if needed. I think there are provisions that can change the angle of the screen towards the driver. I will take a better pic this week-end.
