XM scroll

I have a March 05 build with H/K. I got the XM direct with blitzsafe and love it . But for some reason the info scroll does not work I pushed the inf button and got the "scroll on" to appear, but info does not scroll.

I understand this works on sirius....

Any help is appreciated.

This does not work on our Sirius either I push scroll and it says "scroll on" but nothing scrolls.

Does anyone know a fix for this?

Scroll works fine on my OEM SIRIUS. I do have to turn on the scroll mode first though (and it resets after the car is turned off).

Of course it only scrolls if there is actually data longer than the screen (duh).

Although... it isn't really SCROLLING... it just displays the whole thing, one line at a time, with a few seconds inbetween.

Sorry I don't have a fix for you Mr. Pep'r... but maybe you should consider asking the dealer, as a warranty item? It should work with the OEM product, at least.

Thanks Edge, I turn it on get the scoll on and * but no scoll. I will ask the dealer next time we are near.

Now, I wonder if they will fix it since it was not part of the orginal invoice and that I installed it. It is all Mini parts just not a Mini tech.

Well, you might have a problem there... I'm pretty sure that the warranty applies to OEM parts installed by the dealer. Not sure if they'll honor it if you did the install... good luck with it!

$300 to their $800...if they do not want to fix it I can live with the no scoll.

Who knows, I will just have to ask.

I have another question for you if you do not mind, does your radio scroll everything on every channel? (CH, Artist, Song Title)

Thanks

Scroll with OEM Sirius or Blitzsafe XM is a misnomer. I believe that the devices do not scroll data (like FM RDS) to limit the communications on the data bus. The scrolling information for FM RDS stays within the electronics of the headunit and does not require access to the car's data bus. When you turn on the scroll function for satellite radio you are enabling a limited capability to display more data than with the scroll off.

Push and hold the INF button until it shows Scroll On. When you change channels the headunit display will show the channel number then the station title as usual. While a song is playing hit the INF button briefly one time and the artist name will be displayed and if longer than the screen display it will "scroll" to display the rest of the artist name. Hit the INF button again (while the artist name is displayed) and the song title will be displayed, and again if it is longer than the screen can display it will "scroll" to the right to display the additional text.

Yes it does... but you might have to "initiate" the information request by hitting INF once or twice again (don't hold it down, just hit it).

OOhhh, than our unit is working fine.

FEUGO, thank you for clearing that up for me! I though it was going to work like the FM RDS.

You just saved me a service call.

Edge, you are correct just hit it and not hold it. I was thinking it was going to work like a banner going accross the screen.

Thanks everyone for taking your time to help me out.
Rick

This doesn't work for me (03 MCS with XM/Blitzsafe) - does this only work with SIRIUS?

Yep. The difference between an OEM design (SIRIUS) versus an aftermarket "make it work" (Blitzsafe).

I guess you could report it as a problem to Blitzsafe... but other than that, you don't really have any recourse unless you're willing to change providers!

Blitzsafe doesn't really care about supporting the scroll function as your title and track info is truncated on the unit - i.e., you get a limited amount of information from the blitzsafe adapter pushing through to your head unit.

For the $150 price I paid for the Blitzsafe & an XM Direct I can live without the scroll. Although it would be nice if it worked.

$150??? I paid $71 shipped for a brand new XM Direct w/ antenna, and XM/BMW 100 Blitzsafe adapter, also brand new. I guess I got a good deal... I suppose no scroll is a small price to pay, but I always listen to XM Comedy 150 and sometimes I want to know who the comedian is so I can get more from them, find out if they're coming to the area. It's hard to look someone up without their full name.

$150 sounds close. I'd be interested where gokaht found it for $71.
The BLitz is the $$. the XM Direct box is pretty cheap. ~$30.
I just built a kit for my truck so I could use the XM direct box from the Mini when I'm not driving it in the winter. I bought an adaptor at Crutchfild for something like $50. At least now I can use my year long subscription

Ebay duh!

The seller had originally sold me the new XM direct box and the Blitzsafe unit for $135 shipped. The pictures on the auction showed a Blitzsafe with the pass through option - the one I got did not have that (100 versus 101.)

I wrote the seller asking if he could send out the correct one, but that was the only one he had. He offered to refund half the purchase price (auction was a BIN for $125, so he refunded me $62.50). So, I ended up paying $70 and change for brand new stuff. Honestly I just lucked out - the seller was very accomodating and I compromised because I don't have an iPod yet, so I can use the non-pass through Blitzsafe and sell it when I finally do get one and install a unit with the pass through and a DICE kit.

All in all, a SMOKING deal - I couldn't be happier!

Ahhh... that makes sense. Trouble is that doesn't really count since the masses of us couldn't get that price.

does anyone know a way to make the display stay on "artist" or "title"? it reverts back to "station name" after a few seconds and i would rather show the artist all the time.

thanks!

Cant' be done. I've pushed every button on the radio trying to get that feature to stick. I too would rather have the title. I could care less what station I'm on, I want to know who I'm listening to.
