This pre-supposes you don't care to keep the OEM wiring in place.

Attach/tape/splice your new wire to the oem wires, and pull it through.

When putting my new H/K stereo in, we just got the wiring schematics, took the old wires out of the connectors and insulated them, and then put the new wires into those pins. Now this is sort of difficult and a little painful on the hands, but not all that hard. Also, we had new wiring harnesses for the doors, but I'm fairly certain that that's not necessary. PM 2Miniacs if you have any specific questions (although we're taking off for the dragon tomorrow morning).

wiring

The only problem with using the original wires is that they are relatively small guage and I'm looking to up that to say 12g.

Also just pulling the old wires sounds nice except for the presence of the factory tape job. Thanks

hey there,

i saw a DIY somwhere that showed a pretty good way to get the wires into the doors. i ntend to give it a go this weekend, i will try to take good pictures. it seems that if you remove the 8mm bolt that holds the wire loom to the FRAME, you should be able to drill a hole in the big rubber piece. then you should be able to snake the wire through and into the door.

good luck, i will work on finding that thread.

Doug

Factory tape job isn't that hard to get rid of. It looks like a lot of tape right there, but in actuality it's mostly the rubber piece and very little tape. Just insulate the old wires and tape them so that they won't rattle and leave them in there. Very little tape-cutting is required.

Fyi

I ended up taking the wires leading to each door speaker and doubling them up and using each set as a power lead in from my amp. It was a pain as I did a lot of soldering but it worked out pretty well. The sound from the Focal components is excellant. All if have to do now is play with the infinite variations of sound mixing to get the best for my ears. RR

a little late to help dazrum, but i installed focal 165cv2's and had to drill hole through body to get higher guage wiring through. also made 6.5" adapter out of plywood that held speaker away from window.
