Hello!!! I Need iPod Help, Quick!!!

Hello all!!
My checkmate is arriving very soon, and I must have tunes!!!
I ordered the Parrot EVO bluetooth kit, and need an ipod interface...
I want to be able to use the Ipod to search artist/track and use all functionality...
I have the Harman Kardon upgrade stereo, but is that DSP???
The Blitzsafe will not work with DSP...
How about Ice link??? Isnt that just playlists???
What can I do???

Please help...

Blitzsafe will work with HK
So will IceLink.

However the easiest way to connect your iPod to the stereo and control it from the iPod is the Aux kit... It also happens to be the cheapest option.

I have the IceLink, I've found that I don't use it that much. The sound quality is fantastic, but it's a royal pain to navigate the iPod with.

See: http://www.mp3yourcar.com/default.asp for one option.

I have no connection to or direct knowledge of this product, but it seems to be a good compromise between the limited features of the auxiliary input solution and the expensive and somewhat problem plagued Dension iceLink unit. It is at the top of my list of iPOD links I am considering for my 06 MCS.

Thanks, and I should have read the other post...
I really also want to have the unit charged...
I guess I will go with the blitzsafe unit...
I used their products before and they are good...
My MINI is due to arrive tomorrow in Newark, and my MA and I have already done paperwork, and if all goes well she says either Saturday or Monday, and outside chance of This Friday..

Can't stand the wait.... The Hours go by so slowly in this last week...

It really is like giving birth!!!!

That one doesn't display ID3 tag data on the HU.

But the original poster (swarendorf) only wanted to use the iPod Functionality:

"I want to be able to use the Ipod to search artist/track and use all functionality..."

let me know if you pick that up, i've been researching my options and it basically came down to the icelink and the iON. i hate that dennison has their own mini UI in the iPod UI while the iON looks like it's just the standard iPod GUI.

i'm not all that bothered about ID3 tags on the head unit. i know what's in my collection. 5 smart playlists and my entire library in a dedicated iPod. next i just need to see if i can't get the video out to integrate with the sat nav

I have some questions pending with the MP3YOURCAR and Neo companies - like why do they have the same telephone numbers - and why do they sell the Dension iceLink as a Neo product without identifying it as Dension....

I am also leary of having other software on my iPod - and some of the other iceLink support and reliability issues - which is why I am looking at lots of options. If I get satisfactory answers from Neo I may give the iON a try. I will post my experience if I do.

Absolutely correct. But the ID3 tag data has been a hot button issue for a lot of people, which is why I pointed it out...

Okay - easy (and best imho ) answer:

Buy the icelink w/ trunk adapter - Worst Buy sells them if you want asap
Buy the PanaVise dash mount

Run the icelink cable cd changer cable from the boot up along the passenger side of the car - squeezing the cable up under the door frame plastic. Then with some velcro, attach the icelink unit underneath the glove box.

Remove the oversized cup holder (it squeaks anyways - you'll get annoyed with it very soon after taking delivery of your MINI ) and in it's place attach the the PanaVise, with of course the icelink cradle. Run the cradle cable behind the down tube to the icelink unit. Do a search here - there is a very good howto that shows where to run the cable, etc.

I have navi and have never been able to see track names properly, so I run my ipod 100% in ipod gui mode (I don't remember what it's called in icelink lingo). But it basically gives my full control of tracks and volume from the steering wheel. And I see track names, etc and can navigate the ipod gui right from the ipod.

The only downside -- I have to remove the ipod from the cradle when leaving the car. The pluses -- sounds great!!, clean install (no separate power and headphone cables)

But - you might not want to listen to tunes so quickly - you're gona love the sound your MINI makes sans music!!! Now that's MUSIC to my ears!

Good luck and congrats on your soon to arrive MINI!!

Yes I would love to have the info displayed on the radio. IMHO that is the only problem with the factory radio! If it would read the track info, that would save tons of problems.
