avic N2 install question

I plan on buying a Pioneer avic N2 Nav and I was told that I will also need a speed pulse generator for the gps to work accurately. Does anyone know if this is true or am I being ripped off? Any input would greatly be appreciated.

Here is another thread relating to installation of the same unit.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57760

There is actually a link where you can look at the manual before you buy the unit.

My PDF isn't working correctly right now or I would look at the instructions.

I haven't heard of a speed pulse generator. However, it may be needed but I would think that it would be listed in the instructions. I would double check first.

If you have only talked to one place call somewhere else that is trustworthy.

If they carry high end equipment that is only sold in specialty stores you can probably trust them. If you can get the same stuff at Wal-Mart or Ed, Edd, and Eddies down the road than it isn't specialty.

Sounds like a load of baloney. Call Crutchfield (www.crutchfield.com) and talk to one of their specialists. Ask them if you need one of those gadgets. I am installing the same head unit and it sounds like you are being ripped off.

You don't need a speed pulse generator, many companies over here try to scare people into buying can bus speed generators for Minis
The speed pulse wire is in the right sill, from memory its is yellow/blue it is going to a dead end connector attached to the sill
